Pop Up ads..........

I have been having a problem with pop up ads when I read some forums on the TBN site. Seems like a link for an advertiser will pop up while I am reading a post and am moving the mouse. I thought at first, that I might have hit the mouse button and opened the dealers site by mistake, but it happens too frequently and I have been careful not to even have a finger on the mouse button. Does anyone else have this problem or is it my computer??? I is usually one of the advertisers that is shown when reading a post and has links to something that is applicable to the postings below the post..... Hope that this makes sense to you... thanks

We don't accept pop-up advertising and no other pop-ups are running in the forums right now. Might be something that got installed on your computer---I think 'Gator' causes pop-ups on various web sites.

My daughters got this Gator crap when the were using Kazaa, a music download service. It was bogging the machine's performance. We had to work hard to get it off their machines. Very few "free" things are without cost /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif...

Muhammad and Mark, I resent that /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif, I have no idea how to create pop ups /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

I am not running GATOR on my computer and never had. The pop ups are the sites that are advertisers at the bottom of the page. I will have to investigate this further, but I did look at the other post "my computer..... " and did look at the "test" site and did the test and the results were negative. Thanks for the speedy reply.......

In the meantime, download the Google toolbar -- it has a popup blocker along with other neat features. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

At the risk of being redundant, are you sure you don't have spyware installed? If you were to spend time on a forum devoted to flowers for example, the spyware would report this back to Momma which in turn would target you with flower ads. Tractors are no different.

If you have not done so, download a spyware program such as Search and Destroy, my choice, or AdAware . They're both freeware and good programs.

I run Popper Stopper, a free download, that only allows 1 window at a time to be displayed. I also run SpyBot to clean spyware and Spy Blaster to immunize my 'puter from accepting any spyware. I also run Zone Alarm, a software firewall to keep the hackers at bay. All of these are free. Lastly, I subscribe to my ISP's anti-virus and anti-spam service for $12/yr. Oh, I run PcCillin 2003 anti-virus on my 'puters as well. I'm on broadband and need all the protection available.
