I just spent a couple hours yesterday with a box blade on my L3800 and the jerky hitch was not a problem at all.

...meaning that is was jerky but it wasn't a problem with what you were doing... Or that do not you have a jerky hitch straight from the dealer???

Well lets be truthful here. The valves were not "way out of adjustment". This implies that who ever installed them is an idiot who does not bother to look at his work. These valves are out of adjustment, not enough to notice with the naked eye (I am talking about the actual valve now, not the jerkyness). I know how much they are out of adjustment because I have adjusted one of them. Can anyone else say that? Not trying to be an a** here, but I make my living with these tractors, and I do not care if people speak the truth, but don't "skew" it too much. They have a problem with the valve adjustment that can be fixed. Simple enough.

Mine is jerky only when raising the 3ph Very Slowly. It has not been a problem for me in actual use.

How about a quick run down on how it can be adjusted. First, where is this valve? I'd just as soon fix it myself. Thanks!

All this talk of actually fixing these has made me call another Kubota dealer about 1 hour drive away,
I originally brought this to the attention of my selling dealer, and they are in denial.

This service manager was very nice, and assured me they will research this and get back to me. I would have to of course pay to have the tractor transported to and from. Which I would gladly do to get this fixed. We shall see if he calls back with any information or offer to repair this while I am still under warranty.

The whole point of this is *IF* kubota would just say that yea, it's a problem but you have to pay XXX amount to upgrade or have us adjust the valve to make it work correctly... how much would you be willing to pay... let us know what you find out

I guess you have to think about it like this..... If you hadn't been skimming the internet and found all these threads on the "valve" issue, would you have noticed something wasn't right with the 3pt hitch when using it on the 3200/3800's.. I can honestly say I noticed it right away when it was brought home. That problem drove me to the internet to investigate and then brought me to this forum. When "economy" is brought up for the reason, I'd simply ask why the yanmar refurbs don't have the problem.

I was told it's inside the hydro assembly above the rearend. I noticed a new gasket was installed on my tractor, so I know they went inside to adjust.

I wouldn't mind spending $350 or so to upgrade. Probably not $500.

It's not much of a problem until I use my PHD or boom type extension. It makes the PHD nearly un-usable unless you really watch it.

It's almost a non-factor when using a B.B. or such.

Thanks, I may look into it. To be honest, I would have never known, checked or thought about it, if I had not read it here first.

The valve is bolted to the underside of the casting that contains the rockshaft and lift piston and cylinder. You remove the seat, the seat frame, etc to get to it.

I think there are about 10 bolts that hold it in place, and a gasket between it and the transmission case.

Spent some time on the L3800 yesterday. Have posted before that my hitch is jerky, but only when trying to raise slowly on purpose and never seem to notice it when actually using it in "the field". Someone else mentioned that it goes away when it is warmed up and that may be what I experience because I box-bladed my driveway and recontoured some of my yard yesterday with it and was able to fine tune on the fly with no issues noted at all. I guess mine must be minor.

I might would pay $100 to have this fixed, but would think if it is a persistent issue, that Kubota would take care of it on it's own under warranty.

I might pay $100 to have it fixed as well on my L3200.

I did install an hydraulic top link and it helps a lot when using my box blade or when hooking up other implements.

I do enjoy my L3200 ...except for that jerky and potentially dangerous 3PH.

5 more months of use on my 3800 and the jerkiness is still not a problem for me. Mine must not be near as bad as some out there?

For me, it was easiest to upload my videos to youtube and share the link here.

My L3700,
Before : Kubota L3700SU Jerky 3pt Hitch - YouTube
After : L3700SU Jerky Hitch After Dealer Repair - YouTube

I've looked at a few vids now and will just quota the above with links.

Mine is much closer to the 'After vid' than the 'Before vid'. Only a little jerky when raised Very Slow.

NO, I could not live with a hitch as jerky as the one in the 'Before vid'.

I'm starting to see what ya'll mean by "jerky hitch"...

Interesting fix he came up with in the first vid. Thanks for that.

If yours is more like the "after" video. then yours is fine, mine was like the before video. Really bad.. original dealer not interested at all. second dealer very interested in helping me, but He went to Kubota regional and they had no fix and no money for any warranty valve replacements or warranty work of any kind on this. Of course he could not do any work for free, but was willing to give me a good rate, and a good price on pickup and delivery.. Not bad considering he never made any money off of me on the original sale. He was very sympathetic, but in the end there was not much he could do.
