Poison Oak Everywhere!

Where I'm at it seems that poison ivy and wild parsnip are taking over. Most folks have quit using round-up to kill them and now they use 1 part crossbow with 2 parts diesel fuel. Kicker is that it will also kill trees if sprayed all the way around the trunk. Comes in handy for boxelder for sure.

I was 17. Worked for the Forest Service between Junior/Senior year - during the summer. Got caught in the smoke from a wildfire.

It had burned thru a patch of poison oak. Spent three days in the hospital. Marinated in Calamine lotion.

Nice thing about my 80 acres. No poisonous plants.

That plus a hat, gloves, and tall 'milking boots' is my body armor when I go down into the ravine, jungle, down in back.

Some years I've opened a trail through the poison oak to get to the blackberries covering the far side, but mostly it's not worth it, there are plenty of berries on this side too.

Yuck. That makes me itch just looking at the photo.

My experience with poison oak was around 1958 or 1959. After my short stay in the hospital - I got a series of two or three shots to make me immune to poison oak. It worked 100%.

I'm sure this is still available in one form or another.
