I haven't been to an airport in 15 years and have no intention of ever going there again. Being xrayed, frisked, undressed, and generally disrespected just isn't worth it!

Once before the mandatory "undress before going thru the xray" routine, I was asked "would you like to take your shoes off". I of course said "no". So they let me go thru the xray with my shoes on, then sat me down on the other side, made me take my shoes off, and they xrayed the heck out of em.

I feel the exact same way.

I've been to DFW to pick up family members, and will be doing so again a week from today, but I haven't been to an airport as a customer to fly since 1986 and hope I never have to do so again. So I haven't gone far enough into the airport to have to go through their imitation security system.

I write "challenge me, duplicate this" in cursive.

I use to write it in cyrillic, but somehow some people did not get it.

Lately I'm starting to see more and more of those electronic "etch a sketch" things where you have to sign electronically. Places like HD and Future Shop. Most have no hand support and the window is often a bit recessed. After signing - I wouldn't recognize my own signature, if required.

I anyone checked there would be no resemblance to my actual signature on the back of the CC.

Actually, that is a good thing. I have issues with machines capturing my personal data. Signature being one of them. I usually mark that line with some jibberish and a "special" mark. Funny how when some cashiers see it, they chuckle, but never challenge. Sigh.....

It ain't just the airport doing the xray and other crap, about 2 months ago, the wife was stat flighted to the emergency room, when I got there, just inside the emergency room door was a guard that had me empty my pockets and go through a metal detector, also used the wand. I had a regular pocket knife in my pocket and that was confiscated and put into a safe till I came back out. The wife took her wallet with her medical cards and that too was confiscated from her and put into a safe. When she was released, she got her wallet back in a plastic bag and all her cards were out of the wallet for anyone to see. The day after we got home, we got two phone calls asking if we ordered anything from France. The hospital is the only place the cards were out of our possession so good thing they were kept SAFE!!! Won't be going back there for anything.

Did you call the hospital and mention this to them? They probably have a security camera covering the safe and could find out who was in there fairly quickly. Might save someone else a headache.

Some kids will use it to get high.

You guys know that those invasive xrays have been discredited as being useless. And they wouldnt have stopped many of the previous attacks. But dont let that stop the government from wasting money and forcing its citizens to use it.

Watch this video. Its german, but it shows just how easy it is. And this guy wasnt even really trying. He got thermite, several other "vials", and a DETONATOR past. Yes i know it wasnt an airport, and his coat would have been xrayed, but he wasnt even trying. There are many other "orifices" where stuff could be hidden. Heck i wouldnt be surprised if a terrorist had explosives surgically implanted

I go for the free prostate checks.:D

Sorry, bad joke.

Something I learned for the trucking championships was that USA PATRIOT Act was actually an acronym.

Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism.

But of course, the weasels don't want us to call it terrorism anymore because it may hurt someones feelings.

We were told those airport X-rays weren't going to be saved. Then a few months ago there was a big flap about some government agency secretly saving them. Don't know if that was stopped or still going on? Just another example of government lies in the name of security.

I had an opportunity recently to pick up my elderly Dad at a airport. After we exited and got loaded, He had "to go" So he went back in to use the toilet.Meanwhile I see a cop walking my way. He asks what I'm doing, I explain and he says yes I saw you and him , (my dad is a vet with vet plates). Anyways he says sorry you cant wait for him , so I say so I do what?? He says drive around the airport. So take of and drive around once and pull in, he still isn't out, so I continue again
the second time I get some attention.LOL I pull in the next time and he still isn't out, So around again
with full escort. Finally pull in again and he is outside and done. LOL I guess thinking back it makes them look good. But really makes me glad I don't fly . I refuse to give in...
I don't expect special treatment just good ole common sence... Which was lacking.

My wife loves to fly despite all of the new restrictions and old planes etc....I , however, flew for 30 yrs..commercial and private and had my share of close calls and now with the hassels..I hope to never have to fly again but my wife does not share my concerns...I flew for business so she does not have the same experiences and has only flown on vacations in the past...I have to figure a way to convince her it is not worth it and we can drive wherever and forget going abroad...wish me luck...LOL

How many people, and how much traffic, was there at that airport. Do you really think it's right for you to get special treatment and everyone else be inconvenienced for your convenience? You say you don't expect special treatment? But the fact that you didn't get it makes you say common sense was lacking.

/ PO'ed Veteran #279
With all that I hear you have to go through to get on an airplane and then fly in a plane... I just don't think I want to do that, but I hope to go abroad sometime. I've thought maybe somehow getting a ride on a ship or a job on one and get off on another continent. I don't know how feasible that is now-a-days. Although it may be just as bad as a plane.

Three other cars on the curbside drop off at the time . I said I didnt expect special treatment . ("I don't expect special treatment just good ole common sence... Which was lacking.")Just that it would have made more sense to have had the 'cop' stay there for a few minutes. He returned to the came spot on the sidewalk.I don't blame him he has orders and procedures and these days they are to scared to take any responsibility. And I don't blame them. He did what was right to do. I was just stating how it became "suspicious."
Yes Im in a small town ,
