I get carded when I vote or if I'm buying spray paint but I'm not going to stop. Don't feel that the constitution needs an amendment for this. (I think our judicial branch of government agrees)

I've been on both sides of the random ID checks, both sides of the spot checks, both sides of the screening, both side of what I consider questionable profiling. I sort have made my living protecting personal freedoms and identities. Yeah, both sides of the government and individual too.

It's annoying, somewhat questionable, sometimes it's great timing, sometimes not, to be asked for id.

But you know what? They ask. And we have the "right" to say no. And then in some instances, we have the "right" to seek further legal advice.

I kind of like the system, deep down inside, all of you do too. It is the best there is, and will only get better. Because we are all about the individual.

What about endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights? The Right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Ken Sweet

You must be mistaken, that's not the way our current administration quotes the Constitution.....

Yes, they actually do. Quoted just like every other administration has done since the beginning.

In the not too distant past, I recall one leader saying, "It's just a GD piece of paper"
Yes. That would be "The Declaration of Independence" ... the origin of our republic.

I agree with you, but the times have changed and we have to change with them. I'm going on 60 and still get ID' for paint, CC,etc.. The hazmat cost is to cover checks on you and yes, some profit. What if a hazmat truck went thru a scale or other and was not checked? Would you like to live with that if you were the reason the driver was not checked. There are always some people whom should not be admitted, and without a doubt a flag should have been thown up at the person covered with blood, but some of the so called good guys really don't care. Used to be people watched out for each other, often I wonder now. Hope the is not turning political

I have never been asked for ID for anything in HD, liquid nails or otherwise. I wonder if it is a local HD policy or some new HD policy (been a year since I bough liquid nails) or a law (city/county/state/national)??

Many stores are asking for zip code now. They claim it is know where their customers are from. many folks don't/won't give zip or give a bogus.. the data is garbage then...

What did they do with the information? did the clerk just examine it? or did they enter something into a log?

I get tired of meaningless "policies" and stuff. BTW, thanks for serving!

Around here they'd ask for your phone number for a while.
I generally would give, like 555-1234 but often would get rejected as the number would not match my address.
Real PIA, however not currently being done.

Just marketing profile, not a factor if they will or will not sell you the product.

Actually . some product can be witheld . There is one service station here that you have to enter the correct zip code into to get gas. If not the right one, then the pump wont start. This is to crosse check the zip with the card for our protection. Im too lazy or what not so I avoid that station now.

On the back of my cards where they ask you to sign your name I right "SEE ID"so they have to ask. Who knows it might help.

No one has mentioned the law or Act which requires one to show ID to buy certain cough meds..... It's the Patriot Act.

Nor has anyone mentioned the ordeal of boarding a domestic flight nowadays.

The smoking / nonsmoking idea does not work, except where there is a physical separation. Many restaurants were not prepared to go to that expense..

Up here the government stepped in and MADE bars get air cleaning devices and/or make a seperate smoking area. These poor owners went through great exspenses to follow the rules, then shortly after laws where passed for no smoking. WHAT a waste of money for the owners, don't ya think ;)

I haven't been to an airport in 15 years and have no intention of ever going there again. Being xrayed, frisked, undressed, and generally disrespected just isn't worth it!

try writing see I.D on the back of your credit card around here and going to the post office. They will not except it unless signed at certain places, although I think it is the best idea yet.
