I am new at using a backhoe on my tractor. I am running it off my rear remotes. I had two on my 8560 mahindra tractor. I have to use a bungie cord on the valve so it will stay locked in place. Some times when I move to fast it will pop open. The hoe works plenty fast but the fluid runs warm. Is there something that should be done about that? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you have it hooked up just fine. It's common to run to relief pressure with a backhoe and if the valve has a detent it will be normal for it to kick out without a bungee. It's normal for the fluid to warm up some.

Check out post #13 in this thread and see if this solution will work for you. I like it better then a bungee or a wire.

try running your return thru your fill. the remote is returning under pressure.

nod,

If you would install a hyd gage in your system where you could see it when using the BH, you will see what pressure is being developed. The more the valves goes into relief, the more heat is developed.

You could dump the return or tank fluid into the reservoir through the filler cap, as murphy1244 stated.

nod,

My Backhoe connections are on the right. When the hoe in mounted, it leaves me the front aux connections for the grapple. Good Luck.

Thanks for the help, the hoe isn't going to be used a whole lot. If I think the lines are getting to warm, I will try running the return to my fill. For that I guess I would have to take the fitting off the return hose. Where would I need to install the hyd gauge?

If you want to monitor the complete system, install the 3000 psi hyd gage in a tee at the FEL IN port.

If you want it only on the BH valve, then install it in the BH valve IN port using a tee.

I thought you told me your AUX valves were detented, Don. What's with
the bungee cord?

Anyway, you can (and should) test your pressure, and you can do this
easily at any hose on the hoe with a simple adapter. I like to use the
easiest one to get at and read while operating that circuit. I usually cap
the open cylinder port, but that is not really necessary if the piston is
at the end of its travel and you are doing the test right away.

If your hoses are getting warm, but you can still put your bare hand on them,
you are probably OK. Mine get pretty warm, too, using the AUX circuit, and
that is not the ideal way to connect up a hoe.

I think he is saying that he has detent, but moving fast and bouncing, the lever jumps out of detent, therefore the bungee.

You should check the FEL relief valve for correct pressure , and then set the BH relief valve the same . You need good cyl and valve to set correctly.

You could install a male QD in a tee for the plug in gage to test the hyd wherever you want. Install one at the FEL IN port, and one at the BH valve IN port.
