Plug In Zenith Carb How to?

Have a Zenith Carb of a Ford 2000 rebuilding and seen a Brass plug in the bottom part of the carb. I pulled the old one out since a new one is in the kit even though it was a pain to get out had to drill it slowly then collapse the rest .

How do I get the new one in with out destroying it? any secret?

No experience with this model but it looks like something that you could tap or press in with a piece of thin wall tube. You would need the tube to be smaller OD than the hole and have it fit around the tabs. The way the tabs are smashed kind of flat on the old one looks like it might have just been driven in with a punch that fit in the center though.

Find a deep socket that just fits the bottom of the plug.

The plug walls have a sight taper so they deform and seal as you force them in,

I would be inclined to use a clamp, such as a woodworking one, to apply gentle pressure and let it squeeze slowly into then recess in the carb. body.

Go banging it into place and you could end up with irreparable damage to the carb.

These plugs were used to provide access for machining tools in fabricating the carb.

I think you have several of these plugs. One with a hole to hold the sintered metal disk in place.
