plows for John Deere 620

A 620 is very, very likely to have a rockshaft whether or not it has a full 3PT. It has top link draft sensing, that will be there built into the Power-Trol housing. If it hasn't got a rockshaft and Power-Trol, he isn't going to add a 3 point to it without adding the rockshaft and valving. If it has a rockshaft, he can add a Deere, Speeco, or Saginaw hitch and have draft and position control. My comments allowed for different soil types. I have friends that grew up running 620's, I own a 730D, and have plowed thousands of acres in my lifetime as well. My thoughts are no less valid than yours.

What he said.....

Here in Kentucky, we have clay soils. Much of it is average to tough plowing. Growing up, a neighbor had a 620 and a 630. They ran a dairy operation, and grew quite a bit of alfalfa. Anyone who's ever plowed alfalfa sod knows it's just about as tough as it gets. They routinely plowed it with the 620 and 630. They used 4X14" Deere trailer plows (#444's) They never seemed to be over matched. Deere plows of that era (HSS bottoms) were known to be harder to pull than other brands, so a newer 3-point plow should be (could be) EASIER pulling. Granted, plows of that era were generally pulled at speeds of 3-1/2 to 4mph, where more modern plows are generally pulled at speeds of 4-1/2 to 5mph.

I'd go with (at a minimum) 3X16"'s. A 2-bottom plow on a 620 would be a waste of time AND fuel.

For what ever it's worth, I've plowed a few thousand acres over the years myself. Not my first rodeo.....

It would be some pretty tough ground that a good 620 wouldn't pull a 3-bottom plow!

As for alfalfa sod, Dad & my brother once plowed 20 acres of old alfalfa with the 720D & 60 on a 4-16's (chained together)! ~~ grnspot

The 810-A I had for my 58-520:
