I'm disappointed. My M6040 didn't come with high polished lug nuts. At least, it came with the correct number and they were all torqued down.

I recently received a new flail and very early-on (before the prescribed maintenance) I discovered that some of the nuts/bolts for the rotor carrier loosened up and ran for greener pastures. Was lucky in that I stopped in time, before any real damage was done: rotor hit part of the rear/upper housing and put a ripple in it (really thick steel).

I just realized that my B7800 has lock washers behind its lugnuts. And I just now realized that I haven't bothered to check torque on these for a LONG time... (don't disturb them as they're sleeping! wake them up and then they'll likely start looking to roam...)

I don't like polish as it attracts unwanted things: mud works great for stealth!

At least they installed the washers....

Years ago I bought a new Kubota BX. The dealer installed one of the loader mounting bolts backwards with the nut in. When the axle would would articulate it would swing the front driveshaft over and it would rub on the bolt. Looked like somebody put the driveshaft on a lathe and turned it in that spot. Dealer had no idea why it was rubbing so i called Kubota tech and they said that bolt was supposed to be mounted nut out for clearance reasons. Made the dealer come get it to fix, and they reused the bolt/nut even though it was all ground down from rubbing on the driveshaft. Wonder how many others in town they messed up.

If you look there is washers on the back side, some rims do not use the tapered socket, They are a universal nut. My kiotis do not use the tapered side they do use a washer and a lockwasher.

You're not the first one to wonder, but it's normal. Different rim types on tractors will either have tapered lug seats (so conical end of nut goes in) or flat seats (flat side of nut goes down with lock washer).

The front wheels on my L3200 have tapered lug seats. The rear wheels do not. What's more, of the six lugs on the rear wheel, two are lug nuts on studs and the remaining four are lug bolts threading into the hubs (all six have lock washers).

Some wheels do use flat nuts. Considering they put washers under them that could be on right. The only way to know would be to take one off.

Those marks on the wheels with the tapered side of the nut facing in are more likely from the socket used to tighten them than washers that were used then removed. My guess is that the wheels don't come shipped with the tractor (since there's the option between turf, construction, and ag) so to simply things the mfg decided to use one nut for both applications. It's cheaper to throw the washers into the garbage can than ship the tractor with two sets of nuts.
