Please help with new M5140 3-point hitch

Hey guys,

Got a brand new M5140 and when I attached my 296 BH cutter, I realized the 3-point hitch does't raise the cutter as high as my previous Ford 4610 did. It is set as it came from the factory. The lifting rods are screwed down as far as they can be and they are attached to the lower links in the "A" hole per the operator's manual. This is the hole that the operator's manual says is for maximum lifting. It says the hole "B" is used for most operations but it looks like if I used the "B" hole, it would not lift as high. I'm confused and not sure what to do. With 3 point lifted as high as it will go as of now, the cutter is maybe 14" off the ground and drags at every dip and depression the tractor goes through. Hopefully there is something I'm not adjusting right. Please help.

there's a draft rod you can adjust. I think its to the left of top link, have tractor running with lift up a adjust till you hear motor load up then back off a touch. Thats what we did to 7040

My M7040 also doesn't lift as far as my previous Kubota. Something about the external cylinders maybe.

Make sure your top link is mounted in the lowest hole on the tractor-side. I have to shorten the "Top" hydraulic cylinder of a Top & Tilt to transport implements.

Anyway, here it the rod described by whis. If it is adjusted too short then the hydraulic pump goes into relief at the top of the lift and the FEL doesn't work right. No damage done, just adjust it longer. The 3PH still doesn't lift high enough IMO.

I think Kubota needs to RE-THINK their engineering or lack of ENGINEERING as the range of rotation on the rockshaft of the 3 pt hitch on my M7040 is VERY LIMITED. Just yesterday I had to change the setting on the RS feedback rod on my tractor just so my box blade that I've operated on several different tractors over the years would scrape any soil. Having to change feedback rod to attain height or depth I desire is AGGRAVATING to say the least.

Looking at the pic, which hole are you using for your lower links? Hole A or B?

The unfortunate part is my tractor is located about 35 miles from me so I only get to "play" with it on the weekends. Thus the reason I research the problem as much as I can before I head off on the weekends where I have little to no internet service or ability to seek information.

First, is your left hand side link collapsed all the way? Be sure that it is and then level out using the right hand side link.
Second, use the A hole.

If this is done, that is as high as you will get it using the OEM equipment without modifications, might be time for a hydraulic top link.

A 20"-28" working length should suit you well.

I wish there was more range with my M5700 also , my b2650 seems to have a much better range .

Yes, the side link is collapsed all the way. I'll change the hole location in the lower link to the "A" hole as suggested and see how much that helps.

Ok, so I'm not the only one. My M9540 doesn't lift high enough in my opinion either. Even at it's highest position (pins in the optimal holes, etc.) it does not lift as high as other tractors I've used. Makes it difficult to use some implements, such as a box blade.

My father was recently complaining about his M5140. Same problem.

I hope someone from Kubota reads this thread! Seems a common complaint among owners/operators.

I moved to the "A" hole as suggested and it only raised it 1.5". The first pic is in the "B" hole and the second is the "A" hole AFTER I adjusted the top link for more pitch. Either way, my Ford 4610 lifted it at least a foot higher than this Kubota. There has to be something else I can adjust otherwise, I will be very disappointed.
