I am needing a trailer for my tractors and equipment. I have been borrowing 2 differnt trailers from family, but the time has come for me to get my own. Here is some information. For my smaller tractor (JD 5303) I have been using my Father in Law's goose neck 24' flat bed low boy. I really like the way this trailer pulls and I like its low center of gravity, but it lacks 2 or 3 inches being wide enough for my larger tractors. For my larger tractors, I have borrowed my uncles 24 ft. gooseneck flat bed float. I dont pulling the tractors on and off of the deck because it is considerably higher and Im always afraid of driving off the edge (no rail)

I need to be able to haul my 2 large tractors. They are Ford 7710 II 4wd with cab and New Holland TB 110 4wd with FEL. I spoke with a local trailer mfg and asked about having a flatbed lowboy custome made wide enough for the large tractors. He said it would not be highway legal but it would probably be fine for county and FM roads. I was planning (2) 7000 lb axles (torsion) .

I willl be using the following 3 pt. implements: (10' disk .) 6' bush hog shredder) and the following drag type (10' Rhino shredder and 8" offsed JD disk)

What type of trailer would you suggest? What tires, how many, etc. Any and all opinions welcomed.

3/4 ton chevy 4x4. Most of my trailer usage will be hauling tractor and implements 20 miles between land and occasionally 45 miles to dealership.

I know its not legal, 8' 6" wide is legal, but I have been towing a 9' wide 12,000# tandem trailer 5,000 or so a year since 2008 and a 9' 6" wide 18,000# tri axle trailer maybe 2,500 miles a year since 2003. This is up and down highways and interstates throughout a dozen states.

As for torsion axles, as a part time trailer repair guy I am not a fan. I have seen more issues with them compared to standard axles. Way to easy to overload a axle loading it or getting the load not balanced properly.

To keep it low and have enough width this is the style of trailer I would go with. 2 14k axles or 3-14k axles depending on how you pair the tractors up judging by the specs I found.

I would rather go with a regular deck over G/N with 10k axles and use to loading them on it. The above trailer is wide enough and has drive over fenders, so it should work fine. Going 10' wide on equipment will lead oversize permits unless there is ag exemption. Also added in edit, need to really consider the length you need for the equipment you plan to haul, the above trailer will be 102" wide at edge fenders

Good information so far. thanks. Another thing I forgot to mention is that I would like to be able to stay hooked to my 3 pt shredder and my 3 pt. disk during the haul. In the past I have had problems loading and unloading because of the incline angle. My implement would bottom out (dirt while loading and trailer unloading) I considered building a loading ramp with dirt, but a dove tail and fold down ramps would not allow this. Any suggestions welcomed. thanks

Pharmvet how far are you from Ada, Ok? There is a guy there that builds a top quality trailer and price is not bad. Jusy sold my 1 st G/N(1997) I bought from him, had well over a million miles on it with no problems.

Here is a pic of my favorite little trailer. Its a 20 with 6k axles and dove tail with removable ramps. In this pic the disc overhangs 3' past end of trailer, which is legal in Tx. When I load the tractor will drop the dovetail on the ground, once I have tractor positioned and helper or me if I by myself remove the ramps then I lower the disc. Tie-down and go. Unloading I do not use ramps , back it off, carefull when front tires are coming down, usually walk them down if that makes sense.
