Plastic plumbing or copper, whats do you prefer ?

Man I love he PEX system. I have done a bunch of both, but I highly prefer plastic PEX.

The systems that I have done with the Pex have had no leaks and are silent, all the time.

Oh and I will take that bet on the copper V.S. plastic anyday.

I have a neighbor who is building a new house. He chose copper instead of plastic. When I asked him why, he said it was because plumbers would refuse to work on a house plumbed with plastic pipe. I thought that was an interesting comment.

I haven't worked with Pex, but I've done some copper and some PVC/CPVC. I'll take the plastic any day.

PEX for sure. But I still prefer copper for long horizontal runs.

The plumbers must be afraid it is going to put them out of business. Just about anyone can install plastic plumbing,including me.

When I did our weekend place back in 2001, I looked hard at PEX. I think the tool was about $200 at the time. I went with cpvc because it was cheap and I don't live in a real cold climate. I would do pex if I did it again. The only thing I didn't like about pex the way it terminated in the walls, just a hose hanging out. I guess it's gotten better or the installs I saw were not dont right. I did like the red/blue colors!

I did PEX in our house. Every fixture has its own shut off in the basement. We (myself and plumber) ran all the water lines in less than a day. We used copper 90ｰ fittings so that the PEX was not hanging out the wall. Straight runs are easy if you take your time and use plenty of staples.

Yep. PVC gets my vote..... Even I can fix >>>>>> PVC for wiring also instead of rigid pipe.
