The post on plasma tracers got me started looking at various designs and I found one over on metalmeet.com that looked like it would be easy to adapt to my needs and cost very little. The thing runs front to back on drawer slides and side to side on pillow blocks.
I've only tried it a little and seems to work OK, the biggest problem is the operator and the on/off switch should either be a foot pedal or mounted near the stylus. I think If I were to build another I might base it on the rotten leonard version, it would be fun to see which one worked better.
