Thanks , Today I will finish up the rack and then move to the front to build a shelf over the front axle and modify another folding shelf by the egg smoker. Should get that done and get everything painted by suppertime. Waiting for a couple more little signs to arrive in the mail to attach to it.

As usual it looks amazing, and you have done 3 months of work in about a week.

I was wondering about the triple axle too, but my question was how well it would steer with three axles on the back. It looks pretty heavy, so it might take a bit to drag some of those wheels sideways. Have you tried to wheel it around yet? If so how hard is it when turning?

Thanks , Yes it crossed my mind too when I added the extra two axles so I built them to barely touch the pavement , just enough so they go around but no real weight on them. I knew everytime I pulled it out of the garage it would have to be turned and pulled out at a sharp angle. Today I did pull it out in the driveway from the workshop. It pulled very easy and it steered great. It looks kind of heavy but it is really quite light. It rolled very nice on those big tires. I backed it in against the front garage wall and it turned very nice with no abstruction from the extra two axles. I know it doesn't make sense to have those extra axles but I like axles and lots of wheels. Deb thinks I need counciling , lol . Not sure what I will be puttering on next week but I'm sure I'll be in the shop. Winter has gone by much quicker with me going to the shop a few hours everyday.:drink: grill done 1.jpggrill done 2.jpggrill done 3.jpg

Got to get the shop cleaned first, ha,ha. Yesterday I also pulled out the new portable worktable from the shop into the driveway for the first time. It steered very nice and pulled very smooth. I really like the toolbox mounted below it with all my nuts, bolts, screws, etc. so close. I also really like the work surface being a few inches taller. In the spring I will pull all three pit carts out and hook them together for a group photo. I think that would look pretty cool. :dance1:driveway 1st time.jpg

Most people are a little let down when they stop to see my little workspace and see none of the big models are here to show them. They are always very nice and it is fun visiting but I feel kinda bad they were expecting to see a lot more. cat10one.jpg

I believe people would be more than interested in hearing about your projects. You got an amazing talent.
My son lives in Royal Oak. He'd be amazed.

Tomorrow I will get going on a new little project. I have wanted to build some side wings for my little JD 54" snow blade for a while. I will make them easy on easy off brackets. Similar to this idea I saw on the internet. I will tweak this design . Should be fun to build. Not sure how much I will use them but I think I would really like them. Especially if I could remove them with just 3 bolts on each side .side wings.jpg

Yes, ha,ha.
This morning I marked the lines on the steel for the side wings. I got busy with the plasma cutter and got all the edges cleaned up. I got the adjustable skids bent and welded up and bolted on to the sides. I just got the mounting brackets drilled and bent. So I got a nice start today . Our fluffy lake effect snow is easy to push around , I have actually used my 52" snowblower pushing the fluffy stuff a couple times and I saw how the wings on the blower carried a lot of snow. So I think these 20" wings will work very nice. wings 1.jpgwings 2.jpgwings 3.jpg

Because of the bitter cold temps I am not working too many hours in the shop but I did get the blade holes all drilled for the curved mounting plates. I welded two of them on each side so they will hold up the wings when mounting them each time. Once U got the curved plates bolted tight I squared up the side wings and welded them in place. Tomorrow I will start cutting out the gussetts.wing bracket 1.jpgwing bracket 2.jpg

Is that an edge trip plow? If the whole thing is supposed to flip down when it trips, how are your new wings going to cause problems with that?

Yes, when the wings are on it won't be able to trip . But I think it will be fine the conditions and how I use it.

I got the center braces welded in today , just got to cap the front tips. Tomorrow I will cut four 5"x8" gussets for the top and bottom corners and weld them in place. Then a little 1/2 " steel along some of the remaining edges and it should be very sturdy and not too heavy. Should get it done tomorrow and painted. wingcenterbrace.jpg

I got the rest of the gussets all welded in place . Also got the front 1/2" lip welded on. Got filler on both wings but only got one sanded and painted. Nothing fancy but better than bare metal left to rust.painted wing 1.jpgpainted wing 2.jpg

SNOWPLOW WINGS- Its been 18 years since I built these folding wings for my 5000 series John Deere , they worked great. The blade on the Waldon photo used to be a rear blade that I made. Then I converted it to this front blade. Then I built wings for it and decided to put a floor and top on it and ended up with a light duty snowbucket. It has worked great for 5 years now.wings 6.jpgwings5.jpgwings6.jpg

JD 54" Snowplow Wings- Today I got to try out the new wings. They are 17" tall and 20" long. I can't believe how great they worked. I can carry three times the snow now as before. A week ago I had no idea of making them and now here I am using them. That is the fun I have of puttering in my little workshop. My wife just downloaded two You-Tube Videos today of me plowing with the new wings. I really like the way they mount on and off the blade. No center braces to attach. Something so simple to make that work so great. wing plowing 1.jpgwing plowing 2.jpgwing plowing 3.jpg
