Anyone remember the length of 1/8 pipe for the extension for greasing the front u-joint?

I would guess about 6 to 8' I would have to measure it, add the end for the zerk and a coupler. I drilled a hole on the side to line up with the front u joint. I have the 4500P and it is impossible to get with the bottom radiator mount. The ones with the Kobota are totally different...... jim

I just lubed mine using this. It has the 18" flexible grease hose from HF on it.

I tried to get mine with a regular grease hose but the V shaped radiator support on the bottom would not let me get on the fitting. I could not get two fingers on the hose to push it on the Zerk fitting , the back apiece of cake. Big clubby and tight place don't work. I drilled a 3/4" hole in the frame and the 1/8" pipe it goes straight on it now both are easy..... jim

I grease it when I change the oil. Filter of gives you more room for hands etc. then use a right angle grease gun nozzle Search. “right angle grease gun adapter” on amazon.

Works great

Never happen on a 4500P, if they would have moved the radiator to the rear an inch and they have the room it would have been easy to get both fittings....

On my tractor the front axle pivot pin is very hard to reach so I added a 90 deg elbow and length of 1/8" pipe to bring a zerk to the side so that I no longer had to crawl under.
Greasing that often overlooked critical point is no longer a chore for me. (and much cleaner 4 my clothes)

What one you referring to the two on the bottom bar? I just turn the tractor all the way to the right and the grease gun goes straight on both front and rear the top one is right out in the open.....

He is talking about the King Pin on another style of tractor. We don't have them.

I have the 4500Z and can, with quite a bit of trouble, grease from either side with flex hose. I do cheat a little and loosen the grip of the zerk coupler just a quarter turn or so. If you do that, take extra care to hold the coupler very straight onto the zerk. I thought it to be almost impossible to grease it from the right side as Ventrac instructs, but after their video I took the challenge and succeeded. Still easier from the left.

Hey Murph, just thinking out loud, but if you duct taped a brazing rod or 1/4" steel rod to the tip and then bent it suit, wouldn't that let you push the coupler on same as adding a threaded tube?

You guys with the Kubota engines must have a lot more room than the 4500P and with the longer engine would bet the radiator is to the rear more. The 4500P is only one cylinder long verses three cylinders long.....

Hi, Murph.

I have made two. One is described here. The second one uses two 6-inch extension pipes with 30-degree bends in them, similar to this one. Below is a picture of the second one sitting atop Broomhilde.

Try greasing it with the oil filter removed. Lots more room to work. Also use a right angle fitting in the end of the grease gun.

on a 4500 P the oil filter is a non issue. The easy way I found was to drill a hole in the side inline with the front fitting. grease the rear straight up then turn the drive shaft 90 degrees and run the 1/8 " pipe extension in through the hole and on the front fitting through the radiator mount. ..... jim

I recently added the option of dual sets of front hydraulic couplers. Those are on a steel mount directly in the way of straight access from the right side, steel extensions or not and I am not sure removing the oil filter will help much, maybe; I think TN Mark may have dual sets of front couplers too. I still have to struggle and do the Houdini act to get the flex hose on from the left. Once the coupler is on, then it is tedious to hold it straight and firm enough for the grease to enter the zerk instead of just blowing out the side.

The 4500p is that way without anything added. The engine is so wide and so close to the radiator, that you can't get hand down in to reach the drive shaft. Then you have the core support and drive shaft loop so close you can't get the grease gun end on the zerk fitting. Maybe small hands are the answer, drilling a hole so you can run the extension straight in from the out side is the easiest for me. It is a engineering screw up to make something that hard to grease for no reason...jim
