"Were gonna need a bigger boat!"

A boat full of tourists got to snap the picture of lifetime while floating down Australia痴 Adalaide river; giant saltwater crocodile leaped out of the water right next to the boat.

Wags you can have your river creatures; I'll stick with our snapping turtles and leatherbacks.

Ooops I saw pictures only and posted without reading the rules! But can you just imagine cruizing along in your pontoon boat about to go to sleep and OMG!

BTW, photoshopped?

Just curious Rick;

Do you leave the tooth bar on all the time?

I love the looks of them and I know the tractor would dig dirt and such much better. I plan to get one at some point.

Yes, I installed my PTB shortly after I got my previous LS XR4046HC in late 2014. When I traded it in on new LS XR4155 HC I just kept my bucket since it already had the PTB and weld on hooks installed. New owner of my XR4046HC got a new bucket.

I also swapped out my highly modified grill guard as well.

PTB has never been off bucket since installed. It digs better and back drags better too.

Out of curiosity, Rick, did you weld your hooks directly to the bucket, or did you add a base plate for reinforcement? I bought hooks for my bucket, but haven't attached them yet, and was wondering if I even needed to add any support.

Pic from last year, just to comply with the thread rules. ;)

Paul, Did you buy bolt or weld on hooks?
I bought weld on for mine. I wasn't sure how thick the top was so I welded on a piece of 2x2x1/8
" angle to my bucket top then welded the hooks to that.

I bought weld on hooks, George. I've seen other guys here talk about welding on a support plate, then welding the hook to that. Angle iron would clearly work, too. Is it necessary?

I used weld on .... since I had them. One in middle and two more on ends. I didn’t do anything to strengthen the top of bucket because I don’t try to lift anything heavy with bucket. Most of the time my grapple is on the tractor so, any heavy lifting is done with grapple. I think heaviest I’ve lifted with bucket is the front of my Zero Turn for blade replacement.

Paul,
The top of the bucket appears to be rectangle tubing that I believe is 1/8" thick (I was not sure of that). I didn't want to weld to just the bucket if that was true for fear of ripping the hooks and a chunk of metal out of the bucket on a heavy lift so I added an extra 1/8" angle to mine. If you don't plan on a heavy lift or pull on the hooks then welding to the bucket directly will be fine.

Thanks, gents. Much appreciated. I don't anticipate any seriously heavy lifting, and any heavy pulling is done with the draw bar.

Thanks for the reply Rick,
When I finally get around to getting a PTB and Hooks for the bucket I'll post some pictures, even though mine is the wrong color for this thread.

PJS,
I was wondering the same thing about a backing plate for the hooks. I think I'll add a plate, I'll sleep better at night.:)

I bought my small farm when I retired from the Army in 2010 and originally had 10 acres and my little Kubota B2320 was adequate for what I was doing back then but as we have expanded to 21 acres (plus some leased land) it was clear I needed to step up. So a couple months ago I found a screaming deal on an XG3140 with shuttle shift and I traded up.

Unfortunately we have had record breaking cold weather, snow and ice but it has still gotten a workout.

Got mine out of the barn for the first time this winter. Was in the 50s on Sunday, so I got the leaves cleaned out of the ditch by the road and carried them back to the burn pile in the pasture.

No pics of the tractor working right now, but spent all of yesterday cleaning the tractor, and actually put a coat of spray wax on it:D
