Fun Police intervention again! Remember folks, rules of the thread, there has to be an LS in the picture, and there must be a picture in every response.

I have crazy neighbors!

I see a TL Tractomotive on the left! We had a TL-10 when I was younger. Fun old machines-ours had the same engine as a WD45 Allis-Chalmers.

No one had posted in a while so I figured I would update. Here's my snow pushing machine!

Questions:
  • How does that work? Standard attachment or did you build it yourself?
  • Do you only use it 'floating' the loader arms?
  • Does it ever catch a lip on the outside edge? I'd be worrying about torqueing the loader.
  • Does the angle ever want to push the tractor when full of snow?
  • Is it really a lot better than just your back blade?

TSO Mandate: here is my 'Rip & Dig'. Actually works well. First for a task in the pet cemetery. Then to bust up the crust in some old waste piles so I could move them someplace else.

The blade sticks out 2' so, with a little angle, you're limited to 18" holes before the loader blade interferes. Yes, a lot of 'back & forth' but that's what HSTs are good for. The waste piles were like hitting a mountain side and the blade was great for breaking through the 4" crust as the inner pile was still loose.

Thanks, Bob

Oh no, I must be on double secret probation now! Notice the Picnic Table in the back-ground. Drove thru the woods today, 24" deep. Not even close to spinning a wheel. Thanks for keeping us in line TSO. He He!

The rule of this thread is... EVERY POST MUST HAVE A PICTURE !!! Even if you're responding to someone else's pic, you must include one yourself. Discussions on pics & such are welcome, but you still need to supply a pic (preferable a new one that we haven't seen yet) every time you post. LS only

Hmm. The way I'm reading these rules, we may not have TSO kicking us around anymore! I mean, the pictures have to be current, yes?

Yardbikebob the plow is a standard truck plow that my neighbor welded so is quick attach like our loaders. Last snow we got was about 8 inches of thick heavy stuff and I'm plowing 600'of stone drivewayso it was pushing my tractor around a little bit. That was my first time using a back blade and I'm not sure Wichita I loved more the plow or blade. Today I have to clean up the drive and I'm just going to use the back blade but I only have 3 or so inches of snow to move so I don't think it will be a true test. The driveway in front of my house is concrete with some uneven spots and the plow and blade floated over them with no problem. I do use the plow in float and havnt had a problem but I never though about torquing the arms till you mentioned it! Lol but I'm still not worried as I move a lot of dirt with the loader including digging into earth and if that don't do it the snow isn't going to! Here is just another pic of the snow machine because it -8 f outside so I'm not into taking pictures right now!

My fear exactly, this is why I had a front blade made up. (should be here this week as a neighbor had a buddy weld it up for quick attach). I borrowed TSO's back blade which worked fantastic but my fear is uneven asphalt. The back blade wont just "float" over the uneven cracks the way a blade with "trip". Although the back blade worked wonderful, after using a front blade in the past, I feel the front gets your rig level as appose to riding on the snow. Being able to look forward all the time instead of constantly looking back at the rear blade and then forward so you know where your going. Third, typically front blades (if made front truck plows) are taller so there isn't spill over (only noticeable but also VERY noticeable in deep snow). Right tool for the job kind of thing. Just like saying a bucket will work, but is it the "best" tool for the job? No.
