Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Pictures of your snow weapons

Thanks for the comments guys! Gave it some thought & cost/benefit examination and decided that: (a) my need is pretty sporadic; (b) I was getting by, if slowly, without getting stuck with the R4's and (c) the majority of traction issues were front/back rather than lateral slip. That suggested the standard ladder configuration (4 link) was probably the right choice for a bit of improvement on ice & the least likely to damage asphalt of the options out there. I ordered a set + tensioners from TireChains.com & they should be in this week.

Ordered some of the same Monday for my turfs on my 650 Deere.

Until then this was geared up in Clayton, NC but all we got was ice...nothing to push.

Re: Check out a 7' Curtis snow plow blade mounted on our John Deere 3038e - Having fu

Over the last few weeks we have had over 12"+ of snow fall and it's finally time to get our JD 3038e and 7' Curtis plow blade out. After adjusting the feet for the right depth with the gravel and having a little patience with how to properly control the level of the plow this thing makes light work of clearing the driveway (about a .10 of a mile). Check out some footage we shot after a 3" heavy wet snow fell on Christmas Eve. My parents were visiting for Christmas so my Dad got 1st chance at clearing the driveway. I am actually excited about more snow falling on my driveway now.

Great video , looks like dad and dogs were having a blast ! I would make sure that video was never lost , Kevin .

Here's my setup. It's a Kubota B2920 with a loader-mounted JD 47" snowblower. I made a front PTO kit that runs off of the rear PTO to power it. I added 4 auxiliary hydraulic circuits to the tractor and added a hydraulic tilt to the snowblower. The rear has a King Kutter 84" blade that I added hydraulic tilt to as well.

I built the cab myself. Glass front and back windows, wiper, heater. The LED lights are awesome. I wanted the doors to be lightweight so they are covered in shower curtain liners. They also easily lift off the hinges.

I have two sets of rear tires--turf for the summer and the R4's for the winter. I leave the wheel weights (which I made--110lbs per side) and the chains on the R4's and swap them out twice a year. The front tire chains are easy to put on.

I typically use the blade for the light stuff and the blower once it gets piled up. My driveway is 1000' long so I love having the blower out front. Having it loader-mounted means I can lift it about 18" before the PTO shaft starts binding. It also means I can easily swap out the blower for my pallet forks or a bucket, which I like.

:welcome: to TBN
Nice rig you have, and see you have the dreaded winter ice.
For my likes, I prefer the temp goes below freezing and stays there until time for spring thaw. Usually doesn't happen so we have to accommodate the ice layer.
Great build on the cab.

beenthere,

The pics are actually on the pond behind the house. I use the tractor to clear an ice rink back there.

Finally pulled the trigger & ordered tire chains for my B3300SU!! I installed rear wheel spacers when I bought it 4 years ago. I just received the front wheel spacers I purchased from Bro-Tek so I'll be good to go no matter what we get for ice & snow!!!
