Wow. Flame powered hand heaters.
Winter is coming and we had our first skiff of snow. Though it melted it got me in the mood to do my pre-winter maintenance (grease the plow, check all fluids, ect) and I ran across this thread. Here is my snow weapon:
Out back 1500lbs of counterweight I got in trade for helping a neighbour out. It was the weight rack from an old Deutz tractor that burned up and he converted it to a 3pt mount for me so I can run it front or rear (I have a 3pt for the front of the Unimog as well). It lives on the back all winter, it's just good to have some weight back there even without the plow on the front. Weights are of course removable so I can lighten it up to match whichever implement I have on the front/back.

Up front is a Schmidt K3 V-plow. It tosses snow like nothing else I've ever owned.

I use it to keep my driveway open, as well as 12km's of gravel road, and all my neighbours driveways before the grader makes it out (he does a better job with this giant snow wing, but at least we can get to work after a large dump of snow)
The machine: Unimog U1700AG, full on Agspec Unimog with working gears (16fwd, 16rev), 3spool hydraulics, high flow return, double clutch, front and rear 540/1000rpm PTO, front and rear 3pt, 3 way tipper box, and 495/70R24 Michelin XM-47's

Oh man I've always had a thing for Mogs. Any idea what the smallest one made is? 406?
Adding a new piece of equipment this year and it's not ready for snow. It's a used Pronovost that I disassembled for cleaning and painting before the rain started today. So far so good. Nothing had to be torched off to get it apart. With a coat of paint and some new nuts and bolts it should turn out OK. I plan to use a coating that we've had good luck with at work. It's called AUE-370 and is made by PPG. A guy who owns a body shop we use recommended it. Works well over bare metal or any solid paint.
The sidewalk in the background had to be completed before starting a new project, so that wrapped up last week.
