So I've been looking for a nice set of MATCHING wheel weights for quite awhile. Finding the right size had been a challenge, and dealerships that claimed to have used weights (new ones are pricey) still wanted $1.00 per pound, if they had matching sets at all. So finally found a guy within a reasonable drive that had a matching set of 4 weights! These are some nice old IH weights that they used on their farm. Said they got them from someone else years ago. So it's kinda neat to think these weights probably have interesting stories to tell. I weighed them, and they each weigh 135 lbs, so 270 lbs per side, and 540 total. Ended up paying $300, which works out to be about $0.56/lb - seems like a very fair price (thoughts?)

Anyhow, they needed to be cleaned up and sanded (lots of rust but excellent condition overall). Spent about 30+ mins on each one just getting them prepped for paint. Well the paint finally cured and KenB2920 (thanks again) stopped by and helped get them mounted last night. I was torn on whether to paint them black, gray, or red... obviously went with the red, and I'm not 100% sure I like the color - what do you guys think?

Nice find, I vote for black myself.

I'm with Murph. Same color as the chassis of your tractor.

Weights are hard to find here also. Especially something that will bolt on. Friend gave me a pair of old JD weights last year. I had to make a mounting bracket to fasten them to the Kubota.

At farm sales weights usually bring .25 p/lb. Higher if they are a commonly used weight. Rarely .50 p/lb.

Another vote to match the frame color, black?

I like the red but I have no idea what the correct color is.

Why are they mounted backwards ? Is that the only way they would fit ?

Weights are shaped like that so they will bolt on either side of the cupped disc. Depending on what track width setting the owner wants, he might have the center discs turned the other way, cupped in rather than out. In that case the weights would be bolted on the opposite way.

If you had bought them from Massey for your tractor, they would be black. ;)

TSO was told they were IH weights. I've not saw any IH weights like those. Maybe for the smaller/newer models?? Certainly not from an old M or H. Not from a newer/larger 1056, etc. Not sure what they would have been on?? Then again, maybe the previous owner had them on an IH so called them IH weights?? Hafta call them Massey weights now. :)
