Phone survey on tractors?

Has anyone been called recently from a "Leiberman research firm" (or something like that) to survey your opinions on small tractors? I got a call yesterday evening and they promised to send a $25 check if I completed the survey, which turned out to be about 15 minutes long. It was very detailed and ultimately I was asked to compare my Kubota experience to John Deere.

They were very professional but it occurred to me that I had given them enough information to know exactly what tractor I had and in what condition it was in. All they needed was my address (we'll send you a check, remember /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif). Anyway, I gave them my work address instead when asked where to send the check.

Just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience lately. I asked the operator a few questions and they indicated that the survey has been ongoing for about a week or two.

John, I think that may be the same outfit (not sure) that contacted me quite awhile ago, asked a number of questions on the phone, sent a short written questionnaire, and then called a second time with a few more questions. And they did send me a check for $25.

No one call here yet,but back 96 someone call and had list of question but offer no payment.

Hope your check comes thru..should buy about 16 gallons of diesel fuel.

We have never shared any information about our users, so wherever they got the names, it wasn't from us.

I would never recommend giving out any personally identifiable information to a survey company---you never know what they will do with that information (anything they want, in most cases).

Sorry I been away from TBN for a while ... my health has been a little under the weather. The Mrs. & I got to Flordia, and that helped quite a bit.

I am suspicious of anyone who needs to "buy" opinions. They mostly "expect" your answers to favor their company or client.

In this case, I would be very suspicious of any one who already knows my phone, wants my address, value of my tractor, etc. VERY suspicious.

I did a survey about three years ago but it wasn't a phone survey. I spent two days over at Astro Hall walking around with a compuer looking at various current model trucks and Ford styling exercises. They wouldn't tell you it was for Ford but, duh! I got a look at the F150 they're coming out with 3 years ago. The Super Duty upgrade was pretty slick, too. It's going to be one of the three, anyway. I made around $200. It's probably legit. I wouldn't worry about giving them your address, they had your phone number so I'm sure they already had it.

Seems to me that by the time a survey company calls you they alread know enough about you that is "personally identifiable". ie, name, address, phone number (all from published legal info)

Bird, I find it interesting that we both bought tractors from the same dealer and, so far, are the only ones to have gotten such a call.

Let's see, 16 gallons worth of diesel, or 10% of the way toward a TOOTH BAR! Now I could use some pallet forks too . . .
