Hello to all , woke up this morning to six peacocks real close to back slideing glass doors . Once in a while we will get a giant one cruise through property . We have no idea who's property they have wandered off from . The larger ones with real super long feathers are beautiful . Most are blue , I believe those are the males (not sure have never goggled it) .

I know for a fact they are suckers for turkey box calls once years ago turkey hunting in Winchester Tenn a couple came in too my box turkey set up . Of course I would'nt or didnt blast them !

When I lived in Florida, we had peacocks all around. Beautiful birds!

Don’t feed them! They are a PITA! My neighbor has 12 of them and they are constantly over at our house searching for any food. A bunch of free loaders!

You are sooo right, wait until they jump on your cars. A neighbor down the road has around 20 of them pests...

A couple of years ago the wife and I were out for a walk and we stopped by the neighbors for a chat. As we were talking an Ostrich comes running across the desert. Don't ask me where he came from or where he was going, but he was moving along at a good clip.

My granddad used to keep a peacock and one or two females on the farm. We seldom even noticed their calls. My uncle, from out of town, told a good story about how the one that roosted in a tree near the room where he sleeping let out a death curdling scream in the middle of the night.

Yes got ya 10-4 ........................thanks for heads up ! Years ago a fully matured emu come through here , I had a brilliant idea of lassoing "it" around the neck and penning it and selling , glad I didn't I believe it would have tore me up good just like the komodo dragon that I came across and got in my truck before it got "me" . Lots of exotic stuff lose down here in south Fla because owners release , get free in hurricanes etc .

Doesn't some areas around LA have a bunch of peacocks because someone in the 1800's imported them?

When I was a watch commander in the NE part of Dallas, there was a stable just a little south of the police station and they had some Pea Fowl (right Eddie?) but is it only the Peacocks that do the screaming. I think every time we had a new resident move into the area, we'd get calls that there was a woman screaming for help.

And then a sergeant, who worked for me, found someone in Dallas that had a peacock he wanted to get rid of, so the sergeant, who lived out in the country out of Dallas, took that peacock, put it in his car with no restraints of any kind. He said as he was driving down the road, that peacock started running laps around the inside of his car, spewing a horrible mess out his back end. The sergeant said he was never able to get the inside of that car clean, no matter how he tried.

They love getting on your roof. I hope you don't drink your tank water. Say no more....

Alien . . . I'm not going to show my wife your post . . . It cost me a pretty penny to remedy the damage those scoundrels did to her pristine MB. (allthough she does have a garage to put it in :confused3:)

There was a fellow who was a sheep rancher-?? in my home town. Lived about six miles upriver from the town. He had several peacocks. Why-???

My dad would visit him every fall. Gather up the fallen tail feathers. Used in making certain types of flies for fly fishing.

We would drive into his yard. My God - what a racket those birds would make.

In high school, there was an old falling apart house that everyone said was haunted down at the end of a canyon. One night a group of us went there around midnight to see if we could see a ghost. Something screamed while we where all standing in front of the house that scared us so bad that we all ran to our vehicles and raced away as fast as we could. I later learned that they had peafowl there and what we heard was a peacock. I admit that it really did scare me!!!!
