BTW I hope the Patriots stay after this Deflategate saga. The latest word before the game was that only one of the 12 balls was actually underinflated by any significant amount. The narrative I heard was that Colts owner Irsay complained to the league. Such "handbook" as opposed to "rulebook" disputes are usually handled privately, for example earlier in the season when teams were heating balls on the sidelines.
But Irsay leaked it to a reporter. Now Kraft and the Patriots are intent on ramming it down their throats.
I have a Wilson NFL ball. I inflated it to 10.5 lbs (two lbs under) and handed it around to people and asked them if they thought it was overinflated, underinflated, or just right. If you squeeze it hard you can barely push your thumb into it. Most people guess it was in spec or over. The fact that the Patriots went 28-0 in the second half with balls actually checked should prove a point.....
BTW Belichick is known to take a page from Bill Parcells and make the team practice with "abused" balls. They will spray them with water, throw them in a snowbank - anything that could possibly happen in a game, so the players are ready for it.
