Data linking diesel exhaust has been around for decades. Including early studies from the London bus garages.

You can’t put your head in the sand and ignore science.

Yes you can. Look around....lots of people can and do ignore science and history. And especially when science conflicts with traditional beliefs. Then which one to accept becomes a difficult choice.

Data is easily influenced for the desired outcome.. Any exhaust in an confined space will kill.. Nothing new there..

Yep, that's sure a good point about date being "influenced" and even changed. You have to do your homework these days. Manipulating data has become so common in politics, finance, and advertising that like a lot of other scientists I no longer pay attention to "data" based conclusions drawn from any of those groups.

However, that caveat doesn't apply in the purely scientific community where manipulating data is very rare. It's rare because sharing pure data and conclusions drawn from that data is the very foundation of scientific work. Among scientists anything new or unusual is automatically controversial and so it always draws a lot attention from other scientists. Manipulating data for any reason is naturally enough the first thing to look at and is in fact would be very easy to spot. Most of what inquisitive scientists are looking for are mistakes in math, statistics, or conclusions though - not deliberate manipulation. Deliberately manipulating data would ruin a scientist's reputation faster than anything that I can think of.

But as rare as it is for scientists to manipulate data in their own work, it does seem to be commonplace in other fields - especially when the data touches anything political.

Greets all.
Looks like I'm buying my brother in laws L3301 Kubota which is only a year old and he can't make the payments. My little Allis Chalmbers 5020 is just too light weight for the jobs that need to be done here.
My experience is only with older tractors so I started doing some research and almost fell out of my chair when I found that this diesel tractor are equipped with DPF devices now!~!! WTH!! So my first course of action will be to remove/disable it somehow.

So you'll violate federal law and void the warranty in one fell swoop! Why not just run the thing? Clean air is nice, and DPFs have been used for year with no huge issues.
One thing to check: make sure that the loan gets paid off and the lien cancelled. You can view most states' UCC forms online.

Some people believe the earth is flat. If you are leaning towards that belief, even a little bit, I can’t help you much, I guess.

Quit overly dramatic! I guess you weren't around yet, when thousands of people gutted their catalytic converters when they were first mandated as part of the exhaust systems on our vehicles by the federal government.

And we didn't even realize how valuable the broken out pieces where that we threw away :drink:

They gutted them so they could continue to use the old, cheaper (at the time) leaded fuel.

The leaded fuel that rotted out their exhaust systems, fouled their spark plugs, and made their kids stupid through lead poisoning.

Tetraethyllead lead is an awesome lubricant, cools valves and helped prevent detonation also.

Having smart kids is over-rated. :p

never met a flat earth believer, I have seen plenty that can't think for themselves.. Keep drinking that GOV cool aid..

EPA is out of control. No one seems to be able to pull them back into reality.
Waste more fuel, so you get cleaner air ? LMAO.
I think the oil companies had something to do with this so they can sell more fuel

Catalytic converters are not nearly as easy to detect as a DPF Delete.

Smell and/or black smoke is a dead giveaway of DPF Delete. Black exhaust tip.

Many state police carry a picture book of DPF (and SCR) Delete examples. Is usually about $2000 fine and mandatory fix-it ticket for first offense. Hopefully you kept the original parts because new parts start at $3000. It can be $10,000 if a Federal officer catches you.

If DPF is a deal breaker then buy an older tractor without.

A comment someone made that stuck in my brain was that with the latest emission tiers manufacturers have been forced to learn more than just how to force fuel into the combustion chamber to produce HP. That they have had to learn to control combustion with finesse. That some have had significant fuel efficiency improvements.

Road vehicles usually have to force regeneration by dumping raw fuel in the exhaust. 6.4L Ford Powerstroke did it with the direct injection while exhaust valves were open. Problem is some fuel washed the cylinder walls and dribbled past the rings into the fuel. Wasn't uncommon to be up a quart of "oil" at 5,000 miles.

^^^ THIS^^^^ and service calls. Not to mention the extra cost of the machine..

I was hoping someone would give their thoughts on the eBay link I posted of the company you send your ECU to, and they reprogram and do a DPF delete.

I keep hearing about burning more fuel and maybe that's the case. However my 2015 L3301 uses the same amount of diesel(.5 gallons per operating hour) as my old 1984 L275, and does it with more weight and power. It certainly handles my heavy old IH rotary mower better, the old tractor couldn't even keep the front tires on the ground with it.

The common rail electronic injector systems on most tractors with DPF use less fuel than the old mechanical injectors. That savings will be greater than the amount of fuel used during regen.
My 37hp Branson with mechanical injection uses between .5 and close to 1 gallon per hour depending on hard I'm working it.

That seems like a lot of fuel. I think my L3301 burns about 1 gal per hour
