Tractor
New Holland tc48da 2wd
Looking to buy a tractor and I'd like something pre computer bs but not ancient with lack of features. There's a 2003 New Holland tc48da near me for 15k that's available with financing. From what I see about basic specs it seems perfect and I like the Japanese all mechanical engineering. Looks like Ford and case used this same basic tractor as well.

My concern is buying something and not being able to buy parts for it. How's getting parts for this thing? Where would someone get parts? Input please.

It's a pretty common tractor and has many parts in common with case and farmall models. I think Ford and New Holland merged at some point. The engine in that tractor is Shibaura. TractorData.com New Holland TC48DA tractor information
Just to expand on that, Ford used Shibaura to build their small compacts.
Then Ford bought New Holland (and Versatile) but ended up selling both and New Holland went to Fix It Again Tony (Fiat) where it was merged with Case IH.

I "think" you should be okay with parts for that for now? But parts for my 1967 Ford through New Holland are starting to become obsolete.
I tried to get a gasket for a Simms injection pump and it is no longer available through NH.

A minor correction. Fiat sold Versatile, kept New Holland and Ford. Rebranded company as New Holland and kept a lot of the Ford designs under both New Holland and Case IH products. TC series is still supported quite a bit. Older, non lettered compact parts are getting scarce or very expensive.

PayStar we never worried about gaskets as we purchased
gasket material and then with a ballpeen hammer put the
gasket material over the part needing the gasket and using
the back of the hammer made a perfect gasket by gently
tapping with the hammer

Yes that is correct also. Ford wanted out of tractor business so sold New Holland, which kept Ford designs and products to Fiat. Did I word it right that time? LOL

Or basically Ford bought New Holland, then eventually merged all their stuff under the NH name and sold to Fiat. Something like that?? LOL

Yes, I've done that also. I just tried to get one quick. Was right between tractor shows and I had taken the inspection cover off the Simms pump to inspect and clean the vent and then had a slight drip overnight after that. So had to redo it again. It's like a square rubber gasket.

That was probably a real bear to tap out with a ball peen hammer. 🤣

Ya, couldn't use that method there. Unless I removed the injection pump, LOL

But I have made gaskets in the past for bigger stuff.
