Hi, just wondering if anyone knows if the 2014 Branson 2400h has a instrument cluster parking brake light? I've reviewed page 179 of the service manual and can't see anything regarding a park light when the hand brake is applied.

Thanks

It should have a parking brake light. Although, the switch is quite temperamental and won't make contact every time. You may need to find it somewhere in the linkage for the parking brake and move it a couple times with a screw driver or something. Then with the ignition on, check the instrument cluster for the light.

Thanks ptsg, I got into it a little further since I posted this thread and found some clues.

First I removed the instrument cluster to see if any bulbs were burnt out. As it turns out the're not bulbs but rather LED lights. So then I peeled back the black instrument backing and held it up to the light to see if there was a parking brake symbol. While confirming that there is a parking brake symbol I realized there are a whole bunch of other symbols that I've never seen before. The glow plug, battery and high beam symbols do light up but nothing from the rest.

Upon further inspection of the area around the park brake handle, I finely located the switch which you can see in the attached photo.

However, there is no wire attached to the switch. You can see that there was a wire attached at some point because the tab is cleaner than the rest of the switch. I took my bright flashlight and looked and looked for the wire but had no luck finding it. I decided to pressure wash the whole area because I thought it might be easier to locate if it was cleaner...but still nothing. I followed the harness as much as I could thinking it has to exit somewhere on this side and even looked inside the harness where other wires exited. I'm giving up for today...

The battery, glow plug and high beam light up but the rest don't.

I don't even know what half of these symbols mean.

I agree with the ridiculousness and non-clarity of the icons. The one just to the left of center in the second picture looks like the fabled Jackalope (cross between a jack rabbit and antelope). The one to it's right looks mostly like a safety pin. I have no idea what that is supposed to be at the top right:confused3: . So if one of those light up, I don't have a clue as to what you have done or are supposed to do.

I think the "safety pin" looking thing is supposed to indicate the three point hitch is in the raised position.
Gear and arrow, PTO engaged?
N that looks sideways or a reversed Z, because of the way I'm holding it, should be the neutral light.
The tractor looking one must be 4WD engaged?
The Jackalope likely means drive with caution in Jackalope infested areas...tractor must have the Jackalope radar option.
Like you Cougsfan, I have no guess what that thing at the top is.

The previous picture has 8 symbols and I can only make out 4, glow plugs, battery, park brake & head lights.

I really hope someone can tell my where to look for the missing park brake wire.

Keep in mind that the instrument cluster will fit various models from the entire range of Branson tractors. Then they only lit up the icons they really need for a certain model.

As you can see, you have icons for Neutral, different ranges, 4WD, 3 pt max height, regen and some others. Mostly are only used on the 7845 and 8050 tractors.

Regarding your situation in particular, it does look like the wire was pulled from the switch.

I think that is a common cluster panel used on various other models. For instance, in your first cluster picture, the upper right symbol is for an exhaust filter plugging warning. Clearly your 2400 model would not have been equipped with such a filter. I'm guessing that the one directly below that one is a split brakes warning light. Maybe it comes on if only one or the other brake pedals is being depressed? Don't know if your 2400 has split brakes? My 3725 has split brakes, but doesn't have that symbol on the panel (at least it's never come on, and I use my split brakes rather often in the winter, plowing snow).

I do have split brakes but haven't tried them yet to see if the light activates.

The one that looks like a tank with a tear drop inside and two arrows pointing inward is your oil pressure indicator. I know that one now as mine came on when I hit a old tipped over t-post buried in weeds and that tore a hole in my oil pan. I didn't know what the light was at the time but fortunately shut the engine down to check it out as the last of the oil finished running out of the crankcase  Still don't know why that is supposed to represent oil pressure(??).
The one with a spline gear turning indicates the PTO is running.
I have no idea what the one that looks like two pots side by side, one of them with a hinged lid, is. Can't even give a good guess.

We're thinking that's the split brakes symbol.

As far as your brake light goes, Unfortunately I have no idea where that missing wire originates. On my 4720 however, the parking light switch is independent of the brake light switch. Each has their own switch. The parking brake switch is mounted below the park brake lever. Yours may be different. Do your brake lights still come on when you step on the brakes? If you could find a wiring diagram it would help.

I didn't get a chance to play with it today but I'll try to confirm if it has brake lights tomorrow. I'm thinking there are no brake lights or they're stuck on because the red lights are on when I'm off the tractor and I'm quite sure its a single element bulb (1156).

If there is anyone out there with a 2400h that can tell me if they have foot brake activated brake lights I would be forever grateful.

I do have a small park brake switch located just below the hand brake lever (see above pictures) also hoping someone with the same model tractor can see and hopefully photograph where the wire for the switch goes. I'll post some more pictures of the park brake switch area tomorrow which should look a little cleaner since I power washed that general area yesterday.

Cheers

Just to solve some of the mystery around the dashboard icons, I found this in the service manual:
symbols.jpg
Still don't know what the one labeled "QT" is supposed to be(??) The one labeled water separator I always wrongly assumed was radiator fluid level.

I looked in my Owners Manual. Many similar symbols. A few that are not used on my model. Nothing that even closely resembles your Q/T symbol. I wonder - are there Bransons with a sensor on the quick attach bracket?? Good morning - Cougsfan.

Yes, the big boy 7845 does have a switch when it reaches max height on the 3 pt. Will then turn that light On on the dash. But this tractor does have a electric over hydraulic control for the 3 pt.

From the 15 Series and up, they also have a the switch at the 3 pt lift arms but it's used to turn the PTO off if the switch is on the Linked mode. I suppose Branson could use this same switch to turn the same light on the dash for the smaller tractor though.

Sorry, I've been away for a while. Just to follow-up I can confirm I do have brake lights and they are activated when you apply the foot brake and when the hand brake is applied. I've only ever seen them on in the past because when I'm off the tractor when its running the hand brake is applied so the brake lights are on.

Also, I'm still hoping someone can assist with the issue I'm having in the blue fort above. A wiring diagram could also be very helpful in figuring this out as it getting frustrating not having a dash parking brake light to remind me to disengage the brake prior to driving the tractor.

Thanks again!

Unfortunately, the service manual mentions nothing about a parking brake light. Not even on the electric diagram.

On the other hand, I do have the light and I still forget about it sometimes. If you end up adding an external light, you may also want to add a beeper.

I have no idea how or were it is wired in but the system on my 8050 is ideal,
when you apply the parking brake it does NOT indicate that it is on but when you move the power shuttle into forward or reverse it is electrically interrupted and a beeper starts going off and the forward / reverse lights start flashing, it will not actuate the forward or reverse clutch packs untill you release the parking brake and reengage the direction selector.
It is a better setup then the IH Puma or NH 6050 have, they both have power shuttles and parking brakes that you can quite easily ignore and drive away with them on.
