Hey guy's I was wondering if it would be worth trying to reseal a F11 motor that has been through a fire. My shop burned down taking just about everything in the way of tools I ever had along with it. This pump was on a saw head that I bought a year or so and it was going to be part of the new wood processor I plan to build. I know I will never be able to find such a deal on this pump again. I had just about everything that I needed for the build and was going to start working on it this winter. I even had a plasma table to make all the small parts like brackets an such.
I had Several other pumps and motors, valves, hoses, even my drawings of how I wanted it laid out. Everything all up in smoke. I really hate to loose this motor and would like to save it if I could. What do you folks think?

How hot did it get? I personally would be concerned with the heat changing the mechanical properties of the components.

Not really sure in that part of the building but I'm thinking pretty hot. I was thinking since it was still bolted up and somewhat covered it may made it through it. Most of the paint is still on the housing but it did get hot enough to bend the saw blade a little. There were 4 really expensive control panels I got for parts and they were pretty much gutted but next to it were about 8 aluminum hi bay light shields that had very little damage. then next to that was a small band saw that most of the parts were aluminum and all that melted in a pile on the floor. It's no rhyme or reason as to how fire works in a building.
I think I will take it off to see if the shaft will spin, if it don't I'll toss it.

A gasket and seal kit will certainly be less money then any other option.
if it still has paint on it i'd certainly try it.

Yeah I think I'll try it that just to see what it looks like on the inside. I won't be able to mess with it for awhile but I'll get some oil in it and hopefully that will help.

the motor case should have had some oil in it. How does this oil look or smell? You might need a pliers on the shaft turn that motor just due to normal internal friction.

I have two F11 motors too. I'm using one as a pump and another as a motor on an homemade flail mower.

The motors are fairly simple piston motors. The tricky part is putting it all together while aligning the pistons on the bores at the same time. Don't force it. I've broken one of the pistons doing so, luckily I had some spares.

Another key thing is that there is a brass thrust washer at the bottom of the housing where the hydraulic lines connect too. This washer has a slot that needs to align with a spring pin.

I had another F11 brought to me to take a look because it was jammed and would turn at all. I took it apart and found out that someone didn't paid attention to the washer and it was sitting on top of the pin, so everything was just getting pressed and jammed together. Don't even understand how everything still went together somewhat ok. I guess impact guns do wonders.

I think this is a good view of the washer, slot and pin.

I'm with Lou. And yes, get lubricant in it an try to turn it to lube moving parts. Might even spray some PB Blaster lube on the outside.

You are going to see in the next couple months that everything metal that was in the fire will start rusting. The heat boiled all the lubricants off the metal surfaces
