I'm planning to build some tame, heavy duty firewood pallets using 2x lumber. Any ideas on how to keep them from going wild?

Worry more about them interbreeding with standard pallets.

Use Pressure-treated wood- it stunts their wild side, from what I have heard, but then it'll virtually never leave [like feeding a stray cat].

After thinking back on the pallets in fields, pallet fires, pallets falling on people, pallets jumping off trucks, etc., I see one thing in common. All these pallets are unemployed and in groups. They are not doing the job they were designed for. They are all empty. They have no purpose in life.

I plan to keep mine busy holding firewood, and there will not be very many around to exert peer pressure.

But I still need to develop a plan to handle any rebellion.

Also- in the Tractors and Wood thread, some of the guys have used wire fencing or "hog panels" to make individual fences/pens around their wood pallets, and found that they had better luck keeping them "on the reservation" or at least moderately domesticated.

Come to think of it, you usually never see those wire cage or apple crate pallets out loose in the wilds, much less those IBC ones either.

Saw some standing out in yards a month or so ago. Thought of yall but didnt find the thread. Now they are migrating to yards

In the fields the pallets are perched,
Upward pointing with nary a lurch.
Questions abound, source not known.
Speculations like seeds wildly are thrown.
Placed by aliens from far in the sky?
Put there by farmers working on the sly?
Seen by some travellers during the day,
Speculated as storage maybe even hay.
Delighted by many and as confused as some.
This thread has been funny defintely not dumb!
