May I suggest that "playing a hurdy gurdy" would be the appropriate phrase for use in polite society.
Sincerely,
Emily
I suppose. But does the hurdy gurdy man have a monkey?

Sir, "hurdy gurdy" is the name of the musical instrument, and "playing a hurdy gurdy" is preferred to the use of the vulgar "organ grinding."
Sincerely,
Emily
I suppose. But does the hurdy gurdy man have a monkey?
Sir, who is to say that Robert cannot be self-employed as a street musician?

Well Emily, who the heck was Donovan singing about then?
'Twas then when the Hurdy Gurdy Man
Came singing songs of love'
There is no mention of a monkey in Hurdy Gurdy Man and we have a monkey!
DONOVAN LYRICS - The Hurdy Gurdy Man
Havana Omelette. Postiche. What a learning experience this has been tonight!
Blueriver has been strangely silent on his progress with the double-blind experiment protocol of bagging a coyote while wearing a bag on his own head? I thought that was a good idea and rich with possibilities.
I must say I am somewhat surprised that Robert chose scatological humor over the research possibilities presented by the serious study of constrictor flatulence. It must be a difficult life. A short, near-sighted Capuchin monkey, always looking up--but it does explain the attentiveness to scatology I suppose, and I do not blame him.
In the hopes of lifting his spirits, and gaze, a bit higher, I propose an area of research that he is practically destined to by birth--organ grinding.
Ah, but that would require a license. How would a monkey fill out the application? You see, he cannot be self-employed.
Sir, who is this Donovan person?
Judging by his lyrics, he is not a member of polite society.
Sincerely,
Emily
I do not see why not. He has developed sufficient communication skills (loosely defined) to participate in this thread. He would have no problem if he could obtain a license by online application. Are you so anthropocentric that you would deny him the opportunity to live the "American Dream"?
