I believe that we should come up with a protocol that can pass the editorial scrutiny of The Scientific American or similar scientific periodical.

I suggest the following for the purpose of discussion.

1. In order to rule out latitudinal, longitudinal, and altitude effects, we should seek to obtain as many test sites as possible. This would include sites in the Antipodes. We also need to account for seasonal effects.

2. We could adopt the FDA procedures for evaluating the efficacy of medical devices.

Who knows, if this works, I, er,....er, we can apply for a patent.
