Pallet forks add on D rings for lifting...

Wanted to get a plate for simple lifting purposes, but realized that I could do the same with my pallet fork plate. I wanted to eliminate the forks for lifting stuff, so I added some D rings on the outside. After some thinking, it seems the outside was the best place to avoid intereference with the forks themselves...

Pics...1/2" x 2" x 2" angle iron gusseted with 1/4" x 3" strap...

Final product..

Also, compliments of a member on garagejournal, I found out that Channellock makes a set of "welpers" now...model 360 if anyone is interested in a great US made set of welding pliers...

Made some skid shoe mounts for my new Meteor....pics and more details if anyone is intereseted...

No, they are a set of Versatech 48" that I added on to.

Very nice! I have a set of 48" Bobcat brand forks that I picked up on eBay. I believe I may make the same modifications. Thanks for sharing.

I thought about those, but they don't work well with lifting straps and I already have 3 on my bucket. For lifting I use my straps and I can still use chains with the d rings.

I've used the weld-on D rings quite a few times too, and they work very well.

Funny thing is, right above them on the shelf at the local steel supply is a label from the manufacturer stating that D rings are not suitable for lifting or use in any overhead application whatsoever. Tie-down/lashing applications are the only *approved* duties as per the manufacturer's literature....
