I think the way it is attached you are only using the clamping presure of the bolt end to hold it on. If you apply any axial force it might slip off; the bolts will not bite into the forks at all, they are too hard.
Maybe I see it wrong?

Runner said:When I build mine, I was planning on including a "safety chain" that would attach to the back of the clamp-on hitch and then loop around the lower crossmember of the pallet forks. That would at least keep it from slipping off, even if there was still a little movement.
Could also use a solid piece of angle iron or pipe for this purpose with some kind of clamp to attach to the crossmember.
