Owner built PT attachments?

I tried to build a grapple for my bucket, but the cylinder was too strong and the bucket not reinforced enough, so it ripped out every time I tried to grab something. So, no pictures for the failed project.

This, however, works well. My $10.00 soil slicer. I works great for edging ball diamonds, slitting sod to make square edges, etc... What's nice is I can just drive forward and run a line where ever I want. I can see where it is going real easy. If the soil is hard, I can make a 1" deep cut, then re-trace it exactly at 2", 3" etc... that's the beauty of the out front attachments. I was going to add a cable puller to the rear of it to pull low voltage lighting cable once the trench is done, but I have not had the need as of yet. Since these pictures were taken I added a 2" receiver hitch to it and use it to move my trailer around if needed. I may end up adding a 2nd 2" receiver pointing down and fasten the plow share to some 2" stock to make it removable.

And here is a link to a rather long thread about a backhoe that I am building for the last two years. I just need about 10 straight hours and a couple hundred bucks and I'll have it done. But with the kids being so active, I get no daylight hours in a row to drag it out and finish it.

I really like that boom pole and the idea of plugging it into a receiver.

Basically, I took three 2 inch receiver tubes and welded one to the center of the quick attach plate pointing forward, one pointing up, and one pointing down. I also welded triangles of 1/4 inch steel at the intersections of the receiver tubes. I put a lot of welds around this as the stresses can be pretty high.

Oh! It's just a 2 3/4 inch pipe, 1/4 inch wall thickness with a 2 inch receiver tube at each end (one male and one female). I welded chain links or something every so often to give it intermediate connection that I can hook a chain hook to. This way you can lift heavier items if being close is OK. The female 2 inch receiver allow me to plug other things into it. See attached pictures.

I also made a shorter boom pole about 4 feet long. I use this most. I can also put them in series, but it is very hard to control at this distance.

I have also made a minifork lift that I use for stiring up a burn pile. This way I don't have to get too close to the burn pile.

Thanks, Bob. It was the plug-in pole itself that intrigued me. I already have an adapter plate with a receiver. The receiver is welded to the plate longitudinally, instead of butt on, so it should be strong enough without any gusseting.

Here is a pic of fence stretcher I built for a job I am now in the process of doing. It works pretty well. You are able to tilt or lift the fence as to stretch and place it just right.

Here is another 2 inch receiver with my light duty homemade quick attach plate. I also added this quick attach plate to my gas welder tank rack. So I now have a welder as an attachment.

I think the boys may want a fresh thread about PT attachments since I'm not a member of the PT club anymore, nothing wrong with that.

Just keep in mind I may be back as a 422 owner one day in the near future. I really like my Kubota BX but, on the other hand I do miss my PT adventures.

I have this recurring dream that one day soon Power Trac may switch over to the Kohler engine. Or is it just a dream

If not... I'll have to take another chance on Robin and the break away steering piston curse... Everyone have a great Turkey Day.
