Overheating issue

Today, my tractor overheated about one hour into bushogging. I use it very infrequently and it seemed to run hot the last two times I used it. Nothing I did (cleaned radiator seemed to help). I limped it back to the trailer and on the way it wouldn't hold at a high rpm. It would smoke and bog down like it had a plugged fuel filter (it has new filters). What do you think the problem could be? Head Gasket?

Double check that new air filter. Also ensure you have a clear air passage from air filter box into intake manifold. I'm more concerned about the bogging down and smoking than the overheating. I think if a diesel can't breathe properly it may overheat. How old is the tractor? My old Mitsubishi was overheating. Cooling system would only hold four quarts instead of the specified six quarts. After flushing it would again hold six.

you never mentioned all you did to fix the overheating.
Cleaned the radiator? Was it boiled out and flow tested at a radiator shop?
Did you remove the radiator cap ans see the coolant moving in the radiator while its running?
Fan belt is tight on the water pump?
How often do you change the coolant or do a ph test?
If all that has been done I would replace the thermostat.

If all that is done then probably pull the head and send it to a machine shop.
Running it while its overheating usually doesnt end well.

The radiator fins get clogged inside, in addition to all the junk you can brush off with your hand.

What I have to do each year is let the tractor cool off and then I use the hose to flush out the radiator fins. I put the hose in from the engine side and push the junk back out towards the front. You’ll be surprised how much cones out.
