Like many, I need to store some of my attachments outside. Problem is, keeping the weeds down around them, especially the ones you don't use very often.

Does anyone have any unique ideas for keeping the weeds at bay?

Landscape fabric is far too weak. Round up or other herbacides are a pain as you need to keep applying them.

A big concrete pad would be nice, but too expensive.

I've tried using big heavy livestock rubber matts, but they too are expensive and hard to find used reasonably priced ones.

Any other thoughts?

Treat the area with Pramitol or its equivalent. This will prevent vegetation from growing.

I put down a layer of landscape fabric, a layer of crushed stone and then cover it with a "fabric garage" and put my attachments in the 'garage'.

I use used tin roofing. The cuttings from when you mow gradually fill in over the tin. And the next time I use the equipment, I simply pick up the tin, shake it off and lay it back out.

I'm just getting started but I've found my attachments that are on a pallet are easier to weed eat around. At the end of the day, you can't not edge. If you get lazy and don't ever, you will have weeds grow up around parked stuff. At some point in the year you'll need to weed eat.
As for a long term permanent solution, I'm not there yet, but a rack system might be an effective method for both tidiness and dealing with one area of weeds.

I don’t like to spray chems but……

I bought a jug several years ago and spray twice a year, first in spring as soon as green up starts and in mid season to keep ground clean. I use a 15 gal sprayer at about 40 oz of chemical per session.
Will keep area bare for about 6 mos at a time.

PS
Price on chemical has doubled but still provides good burn and residual coverage. Also, I despise TSC management and the direction they are going!

A friend uses old roofing shingles. It works, but it looks like old roofing shingles. My goal is to have concrete everywhere. It's been a long term goal, and it will never happen for everything, but each time I pour concrete, it's one step closer to success.

I started using Gordon's Barrier after being disappointed with Roundup. Barrier really has some punch.

Most of my equipment is stored indoors but I do leave attachments outside occasionally. I keep an area weed free for this purpose by using asphalt millings. They're cheap if you can find a local supply. I spread them with the FEL on a hot day and roll them flat with the tractor tires. Weeds do eventually pop up in places but they're easily spot sprayed with chemicals.

I also use stall mats in some places. They are pricey depending on the area covered, but they last forever. Over time, they can actually be more economical considering the cost of chemicals and your time & equipment necessary to apply them.
