Outdoor hydrant failed

Came home yesterday and notice a pool of water by my outdoor hydrant. That was fun to dig up. When I turn off the water then it pours out of the drain. I just went to Home Depot and bought a whole new one. No idea how old this one is. Capped it last night and will try installing the new hydrant this weekend. Any tips tricks or cold beer anyone wants to share? Or just come over and do it an I will watch.

You might just need to adjust the rod that goes down to the valve or replace a seal in there?

I already have the old one torn out and the line capped. I'm just going to replace the whole thing since I have no idea if I can even get parts for it. Looks to be very old.

Ok, I recommended someone to hold your feet in case you fall down the hole
I almost needed to be pulled out when I worked on our hydrant last month.

Ours had a hose clamp fail this spring, that was an interesting Saturday...
