The rear tires are water filled. Weight is not the problem. On the contrary, the tractor is either geared to high for the tire diamiter, or the tractor is too heavy for the engine power output.

The tractor sat at the dealer for two weeks before I purchased it. The fuel filter showed GREEN colored fuel in it like some type of factory added fuel preservative. The engine does not feel like it is starving for fuel. It blows black smoke out of the exhaust when you load it up hard.

I don't know how you figure the B7800 is off the scale when it comes to power VS weight. The B7800 is a powerful little tractor. I can pull it down till it spins all four tires with a loaded rear box. That tractor is a real performer compared to the L4330.

I have put many hours on the 7800 and have never had a complaint about power, taking into consideration the tractor size. I have moved a **** load of dirt with it. The 7800's performance has truely amazed me, and other people also.

Now I have another interesting question. My dealer has a new L39 in stock. I noticed the R4 tires are a lower profile than the tall R4 tires on the L4330 or the L5030. Could this be for lower gearing ?

I wonder if the L39 or L48 would be better suited for my application with the hoe removed and a Gannon installed?

From some of the commercial-type things you've mentioned, I thought from the first post that an L48 would be far better.

I had the L48. I used my Gannon box scraper with it. I liked it, but for my needs found the speed in M range far to slow (there's the gearing you talked about) and since the integral loader is not easily removeable, found it way to cumbersome for mowing. I have a L3830 and with my 72" Gannon box blade find it a perfect match. I like the gear setup in medium much better then the L48. It has the same size tires. I did not load the L3830's tires and see little need to do so. Your going to need to find out what exactly your chores are. There is no doubt when it comes to versatility, the L30 series are far more versatale then either the L39 or L48. For pure loader or hoe use, the L39 or L48 can be better. I find loader use though with a hoe on back at times cumbersome to. It depends on how tight my quarters are. Overhead obstructions like tree branches or obstructions like buildings make it tougher. I think the L4330 still has plenty of power. I was going to suggest you try a GST model and see if you could not get a feel for the power. The L3830 and L4330 are very similar in size and weight but the L4330 has more HP/torque. I find the L3830's power very acceptable. I did not find the L48 (same engine as the L5030) to have remarkably better power.

Yes it's all very confusing. My work is mostly brush clearing, weed abatement, general grading, road grading and repair, construction house pads and finish grading. I will never mow anything, Etc.

I checked out the John Deere site last night looking at the specs on their 210LE. That is the tractor I most likely need. It's just the weight problem. At 10,170 pounds with 73 HP I will need a goose neck equipment trailer. That will require a class "A" California drivers license. Plus the John Deere is $54,000,00 plus tax, then a trailer, Etc. I still believe used right a lighter Kubota 4X4 should be able to do the work I do.

I ran the specs on the 210 LE and the L5030. The power to weight ratio for the JD is one HP to 139.3 pounds. The L5030 is one HP to 144.2 pounds figuring the FEL and Ganon into the weight. That is not that much difference.

I will see where this whole thing goes. Hopefully the dealer will continue to work with me and make the trade happen without to much outlay from me. If not I will live with the L4330. If so, I will research putting a turbo on it. That would make all the difference in the world!! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

there are other things to consider here also,., For one, the 5030 has one implement pump. This is all you have to run a BH90 hoe, plus you have to get on and off to move tractor or use hoe.. The L 48 has three pumps, one dedicated to the swing circuit, This makes all the difference in the world especially if you have a lot of hoe work lined up. On the 48, you spin the seat and there is no on/off to use either machine or hoe.

Muleskinner, I have a 72"Gannon boxblade , on my L5030. If you were closer to Texas I would let you try it. I have never tried a L4330 so I cannot tell you for sure if it will solve your power issue. I do not have loaded tires. In Low I can pull until the tires spin. In medium I can do the same UNLESS I am going uphill, then I have to use a less aggressive top tilt angle or shift to Low. I have cut in terraces, leveled a house site and maintained sand/gravel roads. I have done work just on my property and have yet to have perceived a power problem, of course, your use may vary.

Have you thought about the Kubota M series? My Father has a M6800. One thing I really like is the front and rear locking differential. That alone really makes a difference, when you need it. Kioti is the only other brand I am aware of that has both front and rear locking differential. One reason my Father went with the M6800, over other brands, is because he wanted to keep the weight down for hauling purposes.
According to the specs., the M6800 4WD with rear wheel steel disks weighs about 4610 lbs.---ROPS model. That is about 67.8 lbs. per horsepower. That should give you PLENTY of horsepower for grading. May be a little larger than what you have now, but not that much when you see the Grand L series next to the M6800.
Better luck next time around with whatever you choose. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If you had little need for mowing, I would consider something like the L39 TL. Thats how I bought my L48, just tractor and loader. I picked it up for $28K and sold it for $26K several hundred hours later. I would think with all the info about the L39 and its loader, it might be a good fit. The L48 is good, but it is definitely geared as a tractor loader, its just to low for needs like mowing. The L39 with GST eliminates that issue.
