Options for Round Balers

Follow-up on purchase: Vermeer 605XL pulled with a Kubota M9540. Cut a test area Monday and baled on Tuesday. Only did 9 bales, but the baler worked great and the Kubota handled it nicely!

Your baling hay in Anna? Just north of Dallas, right? Did you check your moisture level? I am pretty sure I would bury my tractor, baler, etc if I even rolled them out of the barn right now.

FYI... I went used also. JD 467, has been good so far.

I would imagine those bales had a bit of moisture in them? You must have some great dry down air in Texas. Not so in Indiana. It takes a good 3 to 4 days to make dry hay.

In the middle of summer in Texas with 100+ degree days it is not usual to cut coastal one day and bale the next. Big stem stuff might have to wait longer.

All of my pastures have standing water in them right now. Black land soil does not drain off like sandy soil.

My hay field is in Bonham, and yes, parts of it were still too wet. I did manage to get 19 bales of coastal. We had a few days of sun and wind to dry things out.
