I'm looking for a backhoe to use on my 15 acre property. I like the idea of being able to remove the hoe and use standard 3pt attachments, i.e. 5' bush hog & 6' finish mower in case my 464 IH utility tractor breaks down.

I found a 2005 L3400HST with a BL4690B backhoe, FEL, good tires and only about 300 hrs for around $13K. I think the hoe is a 3pt. hitch mount rather than a subframe (which I would prefer), but that price sounds pretty good to me.

Thoughts?

That price seems good, but if you can find something with a sub-frame mount hoe, I think you'll appreciate having it. Especially if you have any rock, clay, or other hard digging. At times there is a lot of force on the mount, and the 3 point is made more for pulling than for pushing. I have never used 3 pt hoe, but I imagine they are not as rigid, which doesn't help.

That's a great price on that machine. I have a 2008 3400HST with a subframe backhoe and it has been bulletproof.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'm going to go look at it and take her for a spin!
