The ring gear that I replaced, has been trashed. Not sure how I did it, operator error, or not replacing the pinion along with it. As was strongly suggested here on TBN. Being a tractor owner newbee, I didn't want to get into the tranny and a buddy who is some what of a shade tree mechanic thought it (pinion gear) would polish and match up with use. Some of the teeth are almost flat. Nothing else was damaged, just the ring gear. So I am needing another ring gear and pinion. Cause this time I will change pinion gear also. Have exhausted all the leads that were suggested to me. If anyone knows where I might look, or has a F16D that is parts. I would be beholding to ya....pm me if you need too.

My guess is that the backlash was incorrect for the two gears. That or maybe the the gears were different ratios. Either way, it would behoove you to take the time and do a proper setup. Get the dial indicator, pattern grease and shims and do a proper gear setup.
