One More 790 Question

Yes I realize I could call the dealer tomorrow, but I'm impatient and trying to get my post numbers up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Do the 790 tractors have live PTO? I know a few who own them and they tell me they do, but only on the 4x4 tractors. I know a few changes were made for 2004 so I'm not sure if they still have live PTO or not.

Yes, they use a dual stage clutch (½ down disengages the transmission, all the way depressed disengages the PTO).

All the MFWD units had a dual stage. 2WD tractors had a single stage ("Non-live" PTO) with the dual stage clutch being an option.

Looks like the others have answered for you, besides my 790 is feeling pretty old (1999 model). There have been some minor changes since, but probably nothing in the PTO.

Here's a lesson I can share with you first hand for your new rig: Only engage the PTO at idle speed! Ease the clutch out then bring the rpms up. Otherwise, you'll eat up shear pins every time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
