Onan 140 having heat strokes

The Onan 14 hp engine in my 2140 has a probem .... it dies after after 10-15 minutes of run time and will not restart for several hours. It has no spark when it has these episodes. After a few hours of cooling down it will then start and run just long enough to get it back into the garage.

What could cause this? It's like something in the ignition fails once it reaches a certain temperature.

I have heard that onans had ignition problems. How old is it? If it has points and a condenser; condenser is probably bad.

I'm pretty sure all those Onan Elite 14's used in the CC's have a point-less electronic ignition module. The same engine is used on a lot of Onan generator sets, and from what I have read that module is a failure prone part.
