Buying Advice On the way to pick up a 2040, any reason to NOT buy??

Curious how smooth is the paint finish? Hard to tell from the pics, but would think if it needs smoothing now is the time before yu put on the expensive decals. I have used some 3000 grit polish with success.

Man I'm right there with you! I've had decals in the cart ready to press buy but it does have a couple runs on the hood and a couple rough spots. I think it might take a little rougher grit and a block to make it right though, maybe another pint of green too. Seems like growing up they use to use dupont imron on the nicer equipment, is that still a good paint/match? Thanks for the feedback guys.

I like Imron paint but don't think I would use it unless I was starting over on the paint job. I would be more inclined to clean up the sheetmetal and repaint with the Deere enamel and call it good.

Thanks Jenkins, got r done today! I got the JD enamel and block sanded the hood, painted it, wet sanded and painted another coat. That should last the next 20 years or so!! She sleeps in the old barn now, out of the weather! I'm ordering the new decals tonight

Looks great:thumbsup: The decals will really set it off I am always suprised what a difference it makes when finished. Good luck with the tractor.
