on fire!

I have a cub cadet Ltx1042 that is about 3 years old! Yesterday i mowed my whole lawn and returned outside about 20 minutes later to find my mower on fire! I have no idea what happened or how it caught fire! I was wondering if anyone could help me with this, or if anyone knows of any recalls on this! thank you!

I would suspect a hot spindle bearing igniting the lawn debris that collects on the deck. I remove the pulley shields on my mower to reduce material build up. Have you been able to determine where the fire started?

yes it started up in the front, i was able to put it out before it reached the gas tank thankfully!

Up in the front on the deck or under the hood? Is the mower salvageable? Homeowner's insurance should cover repairs.

I had a slt1550 2006 model that caught on fire while I was dethatching lawn.
This happened the first time I used mower. Started from hot muffler.Took
back to HD. Went to dealer and got a GT 2550.
