Does anyone know if this camera has a Time/Date stamp for the pics? If so, how do you set it to stamp?

I have yet to see a digital camera that does not have the EXIF data. You typically will need to use photo software like Photoshop Elements to see everything from the date, time, shutter speed, aperature, flash on/off, focal length. There is a plethora of information. You typically don't turn it on or off, it's just there. Here is a link with some info about the Olympus Olympus

BillyP,

I guess you're asking about being able to automatically superimpose the time stamp on the digital image, a feature that many 35mm cameras have? I have seen that option on only a few digital cameras, and I don't think the 740 has it.

That might explain it then. I'm using the wrong software. It came with it's on software but I never installed it (CAMEDIA Master 4.1). I've been using the HP software that came with my printer.

I've noticed some pics here that have the Time/Date stamp and was wondering about it.

Thank Rat

Yes Bill, that's what I was trying to do. Dadgumit anyway.

Thanks

BillyP,

I would like that capability, too, so I Googled! and found some freeware that does what you want. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I haven't tried it, but I will, unless someone else recommends something better.
Photo Dater

It works! - see attachment. You can specify the date stamp location and you can use the file date info, or make up your own date. You can also do batch processing, stamping a whole directory or selected files from a directory. A small and efficient program. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BillyP,

I'm happy - thanks for asking the question. I wonder if the moderators should move this thread to Photos or Related Topics??

I started to post the question in Photos but wasn't quite sure where it belonged. If one of the moderators wants to move it to where it does belong, I'm fine with that.

Thanks again for the software lead.

I sent the author an e-mail, suggesting that he add the time as an option. I also suggested that he set up a PayPal link for donations. I always like to send a couple of bucks (by the way, nice picture of your deer!) to freeware authors for software that I download and use.

Bill, since you gave such helpful advice on a program to add a date to photographs, do you know of one that will allow you to add your company name as well as the date? I know I can do it by editing each picture and adding the text, but I'm looking for one that will work something similar to the photo dater where you can just enter your company name one time and have it update the pictures you select.

Thanks, Bob

Bob, you can do it with the Photo Dater. Date the photo, then change the name of the file. Then do the same thing to the file you changed the name of, only instead of typing in a date, type in your company name (select a different position than the date)

Did that make sense?

Bill, this is a good idea and I suggest everyone do it. That is if it's something you like and use.

Bill, you are so smart.

I didn't even see the area where I could post my own date. Rather than do it your way, I just entered my company name, then 10 blank spaces, then the date. Got everything done in one pass.

Thanks again for posting about this software reminding me to use all the features.

Bob

Well Bob, you are smarter /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

It never occurred to me to try that /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

BillyP,

That is a great lttle program. I just downloaded it now. Glad you asked the question!

I have a bunch of pictures with no dates on them, and apparently the date is stored in the original image that came out of the camera. But it does not normally show.

You do have to have the date in the camera set right though...which I fortunately did. But a couple pictures taken of a snapping turtle I found, with my daughter's camera, have the wrong date...obviously because she never set the date to begin with...

Looks like the date info is lost if you resize the pictures...but that doesn't bother me as I always keep the originals anyway...

Nice program... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
