I got a call this week from my local Tractor Supply manager telling me she'd gotten her King Kutter shipment including a 5' box blade and 5' rotary cutter I'd been awaiting. As most of you probably already know I'd already bought and gotten a First Choice box blade from an out of town dealer and have a rotary cutter on order from the same dealer.

I did drive by TSC last night to see what was there (OK, I'll admit it... and maybe to compare their box blade to mine /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif... Mine won easily /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif ) and discovered they had a large number of Wallace implements that looked a few seasons old with lots of missing paint and large rusty areas. They didn't looked used, just old. I'm guessing these might have come from some other store in the system or something but wasn't able to ask as it was after hours.

Have any of you seen the same thing at TSC's near you? I was just curious. The Wallace stuff I saw was bearing weathered tags showing a couple markdowns already. One I remember was originally $300 marked down to $280 then $240 with even that number looking less than fresh on the tag. Even though they were unused I still felt like it was essentially used quality equipment and hardly a bargain at only 20% less than new. I have nowhere to go with this. I just found it interesting and wondered if any of you had seen the same thing.

Gary, how did- the prices compare?

The wallace were last years implments. Many TSC that didnt change from a country store have the wallace products. I have a wallace carryall and bush hog. THey have served me well.

Most likley TSC is just clearing out inventory from the warehouse supply.

I plan on picking up a wallace back blade this weekend from TSC.

Brett,

As I said, it was late and I only really looked at one implement's price tag and it had the two markdowns I described totaling 20% off ($300 retail with last markdown to $240). If I get over that way today or tomorrow I'll look a bit more closely for you and post what I find here.

That could be, but these had two retail markdowns on some rather weathered looking tags like they'd been offered for sale before. I know this store hasn't had Wallace in recent years, anyhow, as they've been all King Kutter for quite a while.

If they are from "warehouse supply," they must've been warehoused out in the sun and rain for at least a couple years to look this weathered. Maybe I can post a picture to illustrate just how rusted and faded these are.

Mind you, I'm not saying they're not a quality product. I'm glad yours have served you well. Would you mind telling me what you paid for your carry all if you remember? I'm going to see if they have one of those and how much it is. I'm not opposed to cleaning one up and putting some fresh paint on it if it's a buy. Maybe I can even get them to throw in a quart of Deere green for me. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Around here 20% off of new is about what used equipment will bring. If you advertize a tractor for sale with a shredder or a box blade most of your calls will be people trying to buy your attachments.

Brad, if that's the case then I'd say they have them priced right. While they aren't "used" in the traditional sense, I can safely say I've seen used equipment the same age (assuming a year or two old on this stuff) that's been kept in far better condition.

I paid about $80 for my carry all. Dont remmeber exact price.

TSC has 2 wallace carryalls. A light duty and a heavy duty model.

Wallace made one model carry all. If TSC has two models, one was made by someone else. For a time TSC bought implements from WAC, Harp, Worksaver, King Kutter, and Wallace. Everything Wallace, WAC, and Harp shipped would have been red, but Worksaver shipped in both red and yellow, and I believe King Kutter only shipped yellow to TSC, though I may be mistaken on that point. Also, in years past, TSC had marketing arrangements with a few other 3 point vendors.

I bought a carryall from Quality Farm and Fleet when then were going out of business. It is a yellow King Kutter. The store is now a TSC. I think TSC bought them out. I paid $40 for mine. I have never used it. I was going to use it on my Ford 1100 that is for sale but since I bought my B7500 with a FEL I don't need it. I have included it with the Ford 1100.

I saw a bunch of the Wallace stuff at TSC last night. They had a lot of rear blades. All of the Wallace implements were 20% off. Based on the quality of the stuff, they should be offering more than 20% off.

That was my first reaction, too, Gus. The stuff I saw was really badly faded with a lot of missing paint and heavy rust where the paint had been. The pieces I saw really looked bad.

Gary, I think you are being kind calling them really bad. The equipment I saw looked like it had been used for a couple of years.

You're right, Gus. The one's I saw were really sad.
