Kubota L3301 w/LA525 loader, old IH Cub Cadets - 1250, 105, 124, Ferris IS1500z
.....and turned out to be on of the best things that's happened to me in recent history....

I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve!

So, the old beat up L2350 - no loader, 2wd - which I picked up for peanuts some years back and I have gotten by with ever since, finally died a horrible death in the middle of garden prep a few weeks ago. Left us with a lot of work that had to be done by hand that we normally use it for, 'cause it all got started and HAD to finished.
In the old 2350's defense, I knew it was on borrowed time when I got it and don't feel it owes me anything. It was "well used" when I got it and had some odd noises in the engine that I knew would eventually end it's life. A replacement engine , even used one, was just too much money for the overall condition of it. It worked well enough, drug trees / helped clear brush, dug a lot of potatoes and pushed a fair bit of snow....time to move on....

We talked about it a fair bit for a couple of weeks and the wife finally says "you really should get something a lot better this time, we have too much going on to be stressed over it" and we discussed upcoming plans to expand our hobby farming into more garden and livestock work which will be much easier with a better tractor.
I looked around at virtually all of the manufacturers offerings for tractors around 25 - 30 HP, what their "pitch" is and compared prices / packages.....In the end, I decided I'd rather just stick with Kubota.
Some more specific research and a few phone calls for details / prices later and I just got an e-mail from the sales guy I decided to buy from -- new L3301HST w/quick attach loader and a Land Pride RTR1258 tiller on the way!! ...trying not to get my hopes up too high that it may arrive in time for next weekend, but he did say he thought everything was in stock....it sure would be good, though, 'cause there's 10 yards of compost in a pile that needs moved ASAP!...and to think I was going to tackle that with a rear 3 point dirt scoop....

I will admit, I am a little leery of Tier4 emissions stuff, but I don't see any way around it and don't trust any other manufacturer as much to work through problems if they do come up....only time will tell on that issue...

It always a warm feeling when the wife is rooting for the purchase. Good luck with the new tractor.

I'd wager the timing of the breakdown helped sway management approval for the new machine.
You'll get a lot more done with that new machine - you won't believe the difference 4WD & an FEL will make.

Thanks to all and, yeah, I guess the timing was the biggest factor to get such a positive attitude from the wife. I got info today indicating one step closer, though no commitment of delivery date - still hoping for very soon, but anything within another week / 10 days will be fine.
Will post pics when it arrives!

Congrats on the new tractor!! Just went through a similar "need to upgrade scenario" here (without the breakdown), and had full support/encouragement. As a result, a brand new L3901 should be arriving at its new home this weekend. Life is good.

Signed, sealed...just not delivered...will arrive Saturday morning.....All I got to take home was the paper work since I don't have big enough trailer (next on the need-to-buy list, I guess):

Good story. Tractors don't last for ever. Sometimes it's best to let them go.
It is sooooo much easier when the wife makes the suggestions. Way to go!

You will enjoy the 3301. I have one myself (picked it up last summer). I am sure at some point you may have questions about the the whole regen and it couldn't be simpler. My first one came at 20 hours (which I attributted to the low idling during set up) and every regen since then has come pretty predictably at 31-32 hours.

I must warn you though, you will end up finding more projects just to get seat time.:D

Congrats, that's a good machine that should work well for you for years to come. What are your plans with the old tractor?
