Old JD Disk Info Needed

Cab, looking good. hope mine come out that good. Gotta ask, how did you get rid of all the rust? Did you do the paint? Like JD4300 says, they mean more if your related to them. I also have my grandfathers 2 bottom plow's. They still work great, and you can't buy anything nearly as good now days.

Egon, I have posted pics of both sides of the cylinder, hope there useful. Perhaps you can tell me what the small valve at the top in pict 3 is used for?
Received the manual today. Gotta love that Ebay! Skimmed thru but it doesn't explain the hyd. Cyl at all. just shows a few pict. I will give it a good read as soon as I sign off.

Yes, mine came with the cylinder, but my little CUT does not have rear remotes I plan on running some extension hoses from the FEL joystick someday when I get a chance. For now, use a ratching extender (for lack of what it is called), and just ratchet up the wheels when in use. I did a little fabrication to the keeper on the back to keep it locked in position because I take the ratchet off and store it inside when not in use.

I used POR-15 paint to seal/prevent furture rust. Great when topcoated to deter/stop rust.

The threaded turnbuckle on the front drawbar allows adjustment of the front and rear gangs to level out the gangs or make a more aggressive cut in the front or the rear. The gangs are also adjusted for angle. The more angle the more agressive the cut.

As stated before, not an aggressive turning plow type disk, but sure worked great for turning over a cow damage hay field to about 4-5" depth. It will work your 45hp. Keep the radiator pre-filter clean!

C-bumpkin,Thanks! took your advice. I ordered the manual for the KBA. Looks the same to me, will see what the manuals tell me. your right, it is a 8', and it has 20" disk pans on it. Seems to have been used very little for a disk this old. I'm sure my rocky ground will work on it now though.
Is your 7' the same as this? I found information on the KBA with lift, and looks like they are all 3 pt lift disks. How did you come up with the part number for the manual? John Deere site is none to helpful. Know where I might find scraper blades for this? Mail Order? Have part number stamped in blade, so will go to the GREEEN store, and hope they can come up with somthing. Thanks.

Yes mine looks just like yours only it is a 7 footer, it was the smallest one made with a wheel lift style. I would of liked to had an 8 foot but this one is in excellent condition for it's age, the only thing missing is one scrapper on the rear gang. All the springs are in good shape the pin holes are all tight, and nothing looks to been welded back or patched on the frame assembly, I'll post pics later. As for the info I just kept searching goggle for "John Deere KBA" "KBA disc" and started reading, I don't remember if it was in my manual or a chart off the net that gave the specs for each model , such as blade count and disc diameter and such.

I received my book for the "KBA" Tuesday and have been reading up since. I also have a book for a KCA disk. I can not tell the difference between the two. Seem to be same specs. May be older than KBA? Any one know?

Like yours mine was in good shape for age. Not worn out, broke or bent. Blades all in good shape, and not nicked or cracked, and have not set in the mud for ever. Worst part of mine is paint. It has set out for probably most of its life, and is pretty rusty. Tires are gone, but that is to be expected.

From what I am able to determine the disk was made from mid 50's thru mid 60's in several models. From a 5ft 2in thru 14ft 6in. As you stated the smallest wheeled seems to be the 7ft 6in model. All were sold with 16, 18, or 20 in blades.
After measuring I have determined that mine is a: Model KBA 2416.
This is cut width of 8ft 8in, 7&1/8 disk spacing, 24 disks of 16 in size.

Mine was missing a left rear scraper blade, and the hardware to mount it. Went to my local JD dealer, and surprise, surprise, they looked up the parts and they stock all of them. Had to order but they should be in by Tuesday!!! I was shocked. Not cheap, but then the only thing I know of that is cheap is me... But I'm not easy?

Forgot to check if they carry the furrow leveling blade. I have the top and spring, but not the blade itself. Was so shocked they had the rest of items, I forgot to ask about blade.

Book is still unclear on the Hyd. Cyl. It shows a picture of one, but has no information on the cylinder at all. I will keep on looking.

Now as soon as the ground gets dry enough that I can get on it I will try it out and see how she operates. Look forward to seeing what it pulls like. Will give her a try and see what else needs to be done to it. If we are good from that point, I will see if I can clean it up a bit. Perhaps do the paint an such.

I had to get a new tube put in one of the tires, today and should be able to go get it and bring it home. I'll get some pics when I do. I think it will work just fine for me, Mine has the cutting style blades on the front gangs and standard ones on the rears.

Yep, same disk. I also had scrapers missing. Was able to buy them at the Deere store, along with the pin and springs that hold it on. I was able to buy 2 brackets that hold the scrapers on also. they went on the outside frount, and I don't believe they had ever been there. I see yours are missing also. Deere had to order, but had all the parts! $$$ I had the part numbers and they were able to cross reference all. Let me know if you need the numbers, and i will post.
Now I have to find coupla a good tires for it.

Let me know if there are other part numbers you need. My JD dealer was able to look these right up. The numbers I actually have are the same, but they have a B at the end of them. He said he just dropped the last B, and was able to bring them right up.

BTW, I bought the operators manual "OM-B25040" and it doesn't include the parts list. Older manual for KBA "OM-B16-153", and KCA "OM-B49-959" are older, and have all parts break down. Good to know before sending money.
