We get scams like this from time to time, and today I just felt like messing with the sender. They apparently don't realize just how ridiculous their inquiries sound. The sender was using a gmail address. Otherwise this is the text of the inquiry, my response, and the offer to buy.;)

A 1986 Model 45LX, 178HP, with multiple Diffractors and Vertical Torque Inducers for $22,800 US
A rare 1932 model TEK, affectionately called "The Teddy", which still starts and runs, making a lot of racket, but unfortunately won't do any work....but due to it's rarity it commands a price of $62,300 US

Excellent work Wayne. How long did it take you to come up with those discriptions, or how many did you drink to come up with them? :D

This guy knows his tractors. When I was buying I went with the 45LX over the 45L specifically for the Vertical Torque Inducers. Funny stuff.

LOL! Your response has made my day.

Yep...this one is still popular. Makes me wonder how many have actually fallen for this scam? Even 1 in a thousand must be plenty to perpetuate the process all over again.

This scam, and the legal representative of a recently departed 'wealthy' man with no heirs, who needs my banking information to "Share" a large percentage as a long lost next of kin has been around for quite a while.

Mark

BTW; If you could come down a little on the price of "The Teddy" I may be interested.

Harvster, we've not found the vertical torque inducers on the 45LX to be as mechanically resplendent as the power multiplier effect of the retro flux capacitors on the 45L-DW (dimensional warping) model, developed under contract with Dr. Emmet Brown. This model is basically Star Trek meets Green Acres....and what could possibly be better?

Mark, as far as I am concerned, you can have the 1932 TEK for nothing, and I'll pay to move the darn thing.......

Brents.....ummm, not long. Hey, when are you back? Any chance of another rock box? (yes folks, I ask people who go to strange places to send me rocks) Joe was/is enamored of the batch you sent. Some really strange stuff, not present on this continent at all.

There are still other variations on this. My response to Mr. Smith obviously set them in motion....this morning I got another email from a Walter Smith (creative little bugger, isn't he?) with a different email address, offering me a job as a company rep. Read on:

"My clients make payments for our supplies every week in form of Money Orders which are not readily cashable outside the United States, so we need someone in the States to work as our representative and assist us in processing the payments from our clients and i will pay HIM/HER weekly salary. ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS RECEIVE THIS PAYMENTS FROM OUR CLIENTS IN THE STATES, GET IT CASHED IN YOUR BANK THEN DEDUCT YOUR WEEKLY PAY AND FOWARD THE BALANCE TO THE COMPANY DOWN HERE VIA WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER."

Of course, the money order one gets will be bogus, and you will forward your own money via western union to these scalawags. Check out this sharp lady COWGIRL and look at her response to internet scams. She has written the book for forcing these folks to spend up to several hundred dollars in pursuit of her money before bursting their bubble. She is my internet scam hero(ine).

If you guys want some fun reading, this person makes sport out of these scammers, and has made scammers spend a total for Postage $3842.83

It is funny reading how this person strings these Morons along for weeks and weeks, and then drops the news on them that they are being scammed.

Some great reading.

3 months give or take a week or so. Pretty precise huh? OPSEC you know, and military air and coordination with the other services here in country. More rocks eh? I will see what I can do about that.

They aren't. Those are brown market tractors (slightly more obscure than the grey market we usually deal in) obtained directly from the port city of Rnh'ld Pratha on cluster 6 of the Jangan Galaxy. Or maybe they came from my neighbor's farm when they auctioned off his old Case and Oliver units, and we renamed them. I really don't remember which:confused:

Brents, let me be the first (I am the first, aren't I? There haven't been others......have there? HAVE THERE??) to say Happy Birthday to you online. Wow, how will anyone know you when you return? A year older and a rank higher.

Birthdays outside the country of birth don't count. At least I don't think they do. How did you know it was closing in on my birthday?
