Old Door Bell

This old door bell has been sitting on the shelf since 1961 when my parents sold the gas station. The problem is nobody can remember how or where exactly it mounts or even if all the pieces are there. I think it just hangs over the top of the door and maybe a nail to hold it in place. But I also seam to remember them being mounted above the door and the striker hitting the door as it went by and there is where I am thinking there is a missing piece.

Very neat. Maybe you just tied a string to the striker and wiggled it? Just a guess though.

I remember some bells that were mounted to the wall above the door. As the door opened or closed, it would hit the bell.
I don't know if that bell is the same kind that is fuzzilly trying to make a picture in my head. Can't remember yesterday at times.

The ones I remember hung on the doorframe and opening the door set the bell off. I don't really remember them ever being attached to the door itself.

..hey..hey 1961 not that old.

Ones I've seen attach to wall/door casing..plate w/screw or nail hole each side..middle circle which S shape slip into.
